Stage 1 25nm ( 18 ibf ) then 3 lots of 60 degrees.
FT is all you need dude lol
dont tell him that ffs, we will have 40 "whys my head gasket popped..." threads....
you dont need new bolts either!

nice one mate, i dont suppose you know if theres anything i can do about the problem ive got with the head bolts do you? someones said25 Nm but my sh1te torque wrench only goes as low as 28Nm...?Quote:

cheers jon, do i still do the same 60, 60, 30 afterwards? or do i need to adjust that to make up for the difference of 3Nm? i just really dont want to get it all built up and then blow the head gasket after a week thats all...
all done, got my torque wrench down to 27Nm just about, and did the 60,60,30, hopefully it'll be alright...

yep, will be fine, i've done the same on a few cars, a couple of nm won't make much difference, chances are each hole would use difference amounts of torque to get perfection anyway
nice one jon, was contemplating getting an engine crane today but no-ones about to help me get the engine down the stairs...!
Southie: Aye, the engine ran perfectly too, then was removed when i fitted the 16xe, sat in my garage for over a year, then was converted back to SR spec and fitted with a spi inlet manifold and installed in my mk3 Astra.
