My dad managed to get an engine out by jacking the car up as high as the jack he had would go, then placed a sheet of ply under the engine and then stacked snow under that... undid the mounts etc and scooped the snow out to drop the engine out.
this was way back in the 80's when they were poor and also had snow too lol
we managed to drops the car to the deck with no wheels on, unbolt and sit the engine on somethnng steady, 3 lads lift the whole front end up and over the engine and rolled the car back to clear the engine.

Engine on its own would be quite tricky, id recommend taking engine box out as one. Tie bars/bottom arms off, undo rear mount then let car down, undo other mounts then lift car over top!
#110 on this thread is how I took mine out.

We used to stand on the strut tops with a rope round the engine and a plank through it, lift it up, set in on the locking Panel and lift it off from there to the ground. 2 Man job but be careful as it can damage the locking panel.
No pics, but in a mates old SR we dropped it out the bottom onto the bonnet and pulled it out! Front of the car was bent as was the bonnet anyway!
When i took my SRi lump out, i dropped it onto the floor with the crane then used the crane to lift the car up so me and a mate could wriggle the engine out.lol
no tiebars etc, lowerd the car on the jack as far as it would go, unbolted the 3mounts and watched the 1.2 drop out, Then lifted the body and pulled the engine out with another car.
i use an engine crane to support the weight of the engine, undo the mounts and lower to the floor
then use the crane to lift the shell up and wiggle the engine out
I do the same as Pete did by lifting the car with the crane.Or drop the engine out useing 2 trolly jacks.
Think I've used all of those methods one time or another lol
This one is in not out but sketchy all the same, car jacked right up on blocks etc engine slid under then car on the deck and a single crappy trolley jack is the pikey winner so far for me mind. The blocks and cheapo jack can be seen littering the ground. I took quite a risk given it was a new engine/box and the car was just back from paint, but you know how it is lol

Quite a mess lol
Stihl saw ftw! lol lol lol
Seriously though, ratchet straps and a plank of wood on top of the turrets
9" grinder FTW in this instance. I have murdered a car witha Stihl saw though, the string start thing snapped off so we had to finish chopping the pillars off with hammer and chisels :( and the engine was 'rolled' out lol. Rolled the bulkhead forward over and over and ragged it out. I then ran that engine without so much as a filter change lol Young and stupid ftw
Another health and safety special lol

This method is handy for remving rear beams and tanks

What?! thats safe is that! lol lol
lol Yeah man, I have the 'proud' name of King Pikey now, we have yet to better these exploits. What's mad is no-one barely walked past when we raped that xr2 at the side of the road, let alone complained :D
did you jump and pull the guttering on the house too
No mate that's where I lost my footing trying to get the copper off the roof.Quote:

From underneath with a trolley jack.
Muppet corner indeed.
When I helped 16XE a mates Corsa we picked the front end of his car up and lifted it over the engine. Strange method I thought but it worked lol
That your method or are you admiring my ingenuity dude?Quote:

car up on a car lift, the bosch workmate (i love that thing, it's like 10 years old, and did over 15 swaps en still standing lol although it really bends with a XE (with gearbox) on it) under the engine, undo the bolts, and lift the car further up.
also works for removing full pertrol tanks.

Mayhem that's too pro lol! Wish I had a two poster at my disposal.
Joycey, cheers mate. it gets the job done lol Wish I had pics of some of our past efforts involving forklifts etc
lol, liam you must live in a nice part of town. At least it was til you rocked up, lol;)
Board with some casters on the bottom, put a jack under that and rise till it meets the engine, take the weight, un-bolt, lower jack so the engines weight is on the casters then just pick the car up enough to pull the engine out under the front.
This is how i roll.....

Unbolt engine onto trolly jack, the yank the jack out letting the engine hit the floor, and because i can, i lift the shell over the engine :D
Or do it the gimp way, hook engine to crane, unbolt engine, lower engine to floor, lift shell with crane...

I did my first few conversions without a crane. Undid the rear engine mount then lowered the front of the car right down with no wheels or tie bars on so front panel is pretty much on the floor then unbolted the front two engine mounts. Then just lifted the car up over the engine using a trolley jack with a spare tyre on in the middle of the car.
Refitted the engine in the reverse order. Not that difficult.
haha it's all good mate. Just the old aged miners homes out the back were bringing the place down so I thought I could nip in and decimate a car seeing as they were vacant. I only done it because I could. had they been occupied or as it is now, a building site for a new estate then I wouldn't have lol :thumb:Quote:

First time - spare wheel under sump with jack underneath + 4 mates to lift the shell and support the engine whilst pulling it out underneath.
Second time - Strip it down to a block in the car and lift it out the top by hand.
Just borrow or rent a crane, makes me laugh when people use the crane to lift the car...lol
do you want to keep the car?
drop car onto the ground remove engine mounts, tie the engine to a high powered diesel car, the car to the rear of another high power diesel car,
my best attempt evar lol
edit: god im an animal
Try that to get a shaft out of the box.. wouldnt budge so tryed it to a car and he drove off, sadly the rope on the box snaped and he dragged it down the yard.. lolQuote:
