How rare are the 1300cc engines? I need one for stock cars :)
Pretty rare nowadays to be honest, still relatively easy to get though I think.
Rare but easy to get ?
I'd say pretty rare tbh - I've always seen more 1.4's for sale than 1.3's recently.
Best option keep an eye out for someone breaking an SR.
like rocking horse poo - all the banger/hotrod boys have them (apart from you lol)
ive been looking for one for a while now, luckily ive managed to get hold of 1 possibly 2
Astras and some very rare Cavs may have some. They can still be found burried at the back of the scrap yards. TBH, a 1200 Head is the same as the 1.3 so this might help your search.
Curentlly got 1.0 engine in my nova but I want to upgrade to a different class and it need to be 1300cc, do Astra ones fit without any mods?
Ha, i turned down a Sr 1.3. it needed totaly rebuilding but i knew the history of it as it was in my mums old nova!
Astras & Novas had 1.3's. Though 1.4 Astras are more common in scrapyards it seems.
i've just taken a pretty good 1300 out of my sr which i might part with if you can collect quickly as its not im my garage
Where are you?
wakefield, bout 5 minutes away from junction 40 m1
They are also starting to demand good money ie £100 upwards. Mk2 cav's had them in too. Std Mk1 astra ones had the most power.
you could probably buy a old mk2 Astra for around the same money as the 1300 engine then
doubt it any car now you can weight in for £180
there was a mk2 asrta 1.3 for sale around the corner from me for 150 so bargins are stil about
bangerbrian - 1300 would be a straight swap normally, but as youve got a 1 litre shell ive got a feeling the front engine mount is different compared to the rest of the nova's, think it needs to be moved down an inch and a half, might just be for the xe mod tho, im not sure.
Not exactly sure but I think the shell used to have a 1400 in it but that was blown and had a 1000cc in, Thats what i can remember....
you need to move the engine mount for a 1ltr, you just have to use the engine mount off the 1300 - also you'll need the shafts from the 1300 as 1l shafts are different
You just use the ohc mount don't you? No welding?
I think thats what Draper meant to say?
i've stil go one plus shafts and a box sat in my garage, and i dont want too many pennies for it
50.... wait....56 pennies cool ? i can make it a bag of 2p's too - cash in hand on collection
