As the title says, surely there safer than no cage at all, i'm only thinking this because i'm building my track car, but it is to a budget.

i have an omp full cage, as long as it has a cage number it should be ok, have a look at the msa web site.
Im not sure, IIRC most OMP cages are "Show cages"
Its still got to add more strength than no cage tho :)

If its FIA approved, it'll be suitable for the track.
I think the vast majority of OMP are suitable. Dan has one in his I believe.

For track days its ok but if you want to enter competitive races scruiteers will make sure you have a motorsport approved cage and that all mounting points have been properly fitted.

OMP make show cages which are for non stripped cars. But they make real ones too
