Wed night get the mc and servo and brake lines back in, i'll fit the clutch on and fit the gear box, then that can be fitted on Friday. Shafts and bits after that and rad and stuff. Need to check to see weather the ic pipes clear the F28 mount tho, of that will need a lil messing with..
I'm gonna drop the front ones down on to street box section, the rears i have some spacers for.
haha i did think about using a roller, but the guys at the bodyshop just cracked on.Quote:

Cheers Edd, better pics tomoz. Just ordering some awesome clear spray wax for it..
Looking very nice Benn!
Gearbox and servo, top job!
Cracking work Benn, the underside came out really nice, I'll be doing the same in mine next time round. The gearbox surprised me, I guess the blue box will put more focus on the engine and fade the box out slightly. You've managed some nice touches to update an already finished car and give it another year of fresh attention.
Hat off to you:thumb:
That engine bay is quite something !! superb work :thumb:

Looking awesome Benn. Will be a show stopper this year. No doubt about it!!
Thank you sir.Quote:

So paint it and detail it would polished/chromed bits seems the way for ward.Quote:

Looks cracking fella ;)
Nick.
So at the weekend Dan helped me set the timing and everything up and we set the adjustable pulley. -6deg.

Skid to last night, with the car home i start by getting the tank in.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3.../buildup11.jpg
Yes the straps look sh*tty but have some coming to be made sexy... ;)
Tank in.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3.../buildup12.jpg
Skip to today.
The finish in the bay is very good... But not quite enough for me... So, out of the gun finish.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3.../buildup16.jpg
Gave it a light flat and polish...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3.../buildup14.jpg
Same with the bulk head..
Before,
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...n/buildup1.jpg
After,
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...n/buildup2.jpg
A bit better. Needs a coat of glaze and then wax. Lots of wax.
Smooth ness?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...n/buildup3.jpg
It's flat enough, not 100% tho.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...n/buildup4.jpg
Full one.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3.../buildup13.jpg
From there i moved to getting the pass side brake line fitted as its a c**t. Then got the servo and m/c on.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...n/buildup9.jpg
Sorry the bays still dirty, as is the whole bloody car :( Think grey was deffo the right choice for the servo.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...n/buildup6.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...n/buildup8.jpg
Not sure if i'm 100% on the grey mc too tho... But with the pot on the top think it will look ok.
Cheers dude :)Quote:

Quality
You must of spent alot of painful depressing hours rubbing and working away on your engine bay.
+Rep for the determination. keep at it Benn.
EDIT: Must spread, ill owe you it.
I'm liking the grey servo & mc combo buddy. It works.
Just waiting for the "why didnt I fit a 6 speed sooner!" post ;)
Hats off to you Benn! Will it be ready for the summer shows?
Truthfully. Yes. If i could go back to the start i'd do it so much better than i did, as i missed so many bits i have gone back to do.Quote:

I'm liking it too, with a nice clean fluid res on it and the blue brake lines i think it will look good.Quote:

Thank you very much too.
Jesus, i can imagine how hard thatll be not scratching it with the engine etc going back in!
Fair play Benn
I've never marked it before.. But didn't have a F28 then..lol
Benn if you scratch it a little putting the engine back in are you going to take it back out and paint again ? lol
Tbh, yes i would. But haven't scratched it yet.
Surely with the F28 you'll have to put it in from the bottom tho ? lol
Looking great as ever benn
looks fandabytastic
been looking through your pics for replasing the chassis rails, i could realy do with doing mine as mine dont look the neatest thier solid enough though
was it hard to do? any tips :)
did you weld the new plates in flush or cut and weld the new plate inside the chassis rail
btw that jack looks handy what are they called?
Sadly i think i will, now i'll get to remember the utter sh*te way of fitting a engine...;)Quote:

No clue what the jack is called.
yeah i think im gonna do mine exactly how youve done yours
after years of being jacked up with crappy jacks has took its tool on the rails
plus ive found a hole at the inside of the sill lip beside the fron part that sticks out from the rail
It pleases me that you're forced to put the engine in from underneath.
New paint looks fantastic.
Same as mine where, guy that owned it before worked at Kwik fit, so they started bad and have got worse. But look like new now.Quote:

I'm having it to it the crap way. Cant believe people do it this way.Quote:

Tapped the rear holes on the F28 for the Nova rear mount. Holes where already mostly done tho... Just i cleaned them up/re tapped them.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...n/IMG_9641.jpg
Bolts fit fine. Paint has been touched up.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...IMG_9639-1.jpg
Mount fitted, then stripped to be re painted.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...n/IMG_9642.jpg
From there i needed to get the engine off the stand so the flywheel could be fitted, but some one still has my lifting rig thing. So quickly knocked up this. The hooked ends fit perfect in the lifting hooks.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...n/IMG_9643.jpg
Fly wheel with new bolts fitted (again, i seem to replace them every time the engines out) Did want a billet fly, but have been spending to much. So my lighten one will do. Sanded over the polished like bits from where the only clutch was slipping.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...n/IMG_9644.jpg
Some reason i didn't take a pic of my nice new clutch... but its a "fast road" up rated clutch from Courtney Sport, rated to 270/280 brake.
Then moved to my water pump. Have has some many probs with finding one with metal impellers. Why the funk are they all made with plastic ones now????
In the end i've used my old one, will i say old. Its probably only done 8-10k max. Has no play or anything so.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...n/IMG_9645.jpg
With that in, backing plate back on, cams in, just needs the belt on...
Moved to getting the gear box on, messed about trying to get the release bearing on, found the fork had moved as the bolt was missing.. Borrows a bolt from my spare one and sorted that out. Next getting the box on the engine... Sh*t me they are heavy when trying to get it on the engine/clutch. But did it first time, giving my self a head ache tho.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...n/IMG_9651.jpg
I didn't finish bolting it up tho, as i found i couldn't pull the clutch arm back.. Should i be able to by hand?
Moved to getting the last two brakes lines on, as i gave them a fresh coat of paint...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...n/IMG_9648.jpg
Blue and grey was the right way to go...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...n/IMG_9647.jpg
Then did a bit of cleaning and painted my F28 mount (will be grey i think)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...n/IMG_9650.jpg
And the hand brake joiner thing..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...n/IMG_9646.jpg
Think that's it...lol More on Monday...
definitely shouldn't be able to pull the fork back by hand! 270/280 rated clutch will have enough pressure to hold basically a big brake pad against a shiny smooth flywheel with an engine dropping 280 horses at it, even with a nice big lever it will take a big fat left kick on a long pedal to disengage it :)
Nice! I am displeased by the lack of your little army man in recent pics tho lol
MIA/AWOL lolQuote:
