I'd still get the facet pump & filter king - about £70 from Bogg Bros iirc (so can probably get cheaper than that). Its a more universal/flexible install and more sellabel too.
Is it painted yet?
Not yet no :( Meant to be hearing from the bloke some time next week.
Started on the engine. Cranks out, All bearings and Crank are in tip top condition with no scores or wear. Bores have been glaze busted and head face and front face cleaned up. Blocks ready to go in parts washer and then rebuilt. Then we can start on porting the cylinder head:thumb:
sound good mate gunna be ace when finished,
Does Kat know you're using the dishwasher for that? lollolQuote:

set of 4 of ebay? what they go for in the end? They were £32 +p&p with 5mins to go last I looked. They're £12 each new from yamaha iirc.
:thumb: I know I could of used some silicon hose, but I'd rather use the original fittings and they look a bit neater too imo.Quote:

Another small update... Got a phone call in the week from the bloke who was meant to be painting the car, said he could do it this weekend :thumb: So got the shell over to him friday afternoon and left it in his hands. Been and fetched it back today. Im well happy with it :)
Its by no means a concourse job and isn't even a vauxhall colour. Its just a 2pak white but looks spot on as its nice and bright and clean! I only decided to have it white as it was finicially more effective! lol and at the end of the day its being built to go round a track and have fun in so no point in spending x amount more for it to be a different colour.
Anyways heres some piccies :D

The paint finish is as it came out the gun, has not been flatted or polished

The only downside is the crossmember reacted as I had hammerited it!! I will rub this down and stoneguard it, and it'll be hidden behind the bumper anyways.

looks good from the pics buddy, does he want another nova to paint lol
That looks great Ian, nice one. At least it only reacted where it won't be seen :) Time to start bolting bits on now eh?
looking good mate, you must be chuffed... three years work almost finally complete!
now time to enjoy it :)
Cheers guys, as you said Iain I sure can start bolting bits on and Olz, Im mega chuffed mate! Its getting there!
time to start building it back up now then :thumb:
looks a good paint job also
Looks really good mate, as you say dont matter about the front slam etc, but dont let that water sit on it, as the paint will be soft still and it might leave a pull/blister type mark.
All good though.
Scott
Looks good now
always nice to bolt bits to a nice clean shell
keep up the good work
Car looks fine mate, at long lastlol
Looks awsome mate :) Can't wait to see more pics of it
Thats super mate!

Very nice mate. Looks a good job
Looking sweet dude, i do like a bit of cage action.:D
Keep up the top work:thumb:
Looking great ian, looks like its rolled straight out of factory
You should be very proud of what you've done with that shell mate.
Looks the business and I'd say its good and strong.
Thought I'd let you all know some of the progress I've made. Not really got any pics as I just got on with what I had to do!
First things first I had a spacer made up to mount the topmounts to the coilovers so as theres no play. As when you bolt them up with the 2 supplied spacers theres still like a 10mm gap. So rather than pack it out with numerous washers I had this spacer made up to the same outside diameter of the supplied spacer and the same size internal hole. The pic shows it as one length as I've cut it to the exact size I needed
Spacer I had made on left and supplied spacer on right

Comparison of diameters of the spacers

Will get some pics of them fitted on the coilovers. Got to have them lathed down a little so as there 100% flat as I couldn't get the straightest of cuts!
Other progress included
- Door shut and boot shut rubbers cleaned and fitted
- Door Catches fitted
- Handles drilled/painted and fitted
- Quaife quick rack internals fitted into a reconditioned rack along with a new pinion bearing
- Snap off steering wheel slug cut off astra column and re welded onto nova column
- Rack mounts painted and fitted with poly rack bushes
- Rack fitted with new track rod ends
- Column fitted
- TCA and Tie bar mount bushes changed for poly bushes and all painted up, and bolted together with new bottom ball joints
and finally I've just ordered some ARP rod and flywheel bolts, so I have everything for the bottom end build now. Also bought a TAS front gearbox mount so I now have a full set of TAS engine mounts. Happy Days!
+1 rep for you ;)
Sounds all good mate, good idea with the spacers too.
Will be nice to see it looking even more like a nova soon.
Scott
What coilovers are you using?
Ive got some SLIGHT play in my eccentric topmounts, can hear a slight knock at slow speeds.
There Avo's Ad, maybe that could be your problem?
Although the gap that I have is like 10mm so I assume you would have spotted that much though! I have some of the spacer material left if you need some:thumb:
I'll start off with a few pics of bits I did last weekend, seeing as I didn't take any last time!!
