Woop! Think itl be ready for PVS?
It has to be finished no matter what, so yes lollol
Anyway, just a quick one to tease...

Here's the pictures I took today. I'm going up tomorrow to get the glass back in and window surrounds, bumpers, boot, wings on etc.
Unfortunately they ran out of paint so couldn't do the spoiler, grill, wing mirrors etc so once the paint has arrived these bits will be done.
I have also packed my Waxoyl in the car ready to do the inside of the wings and doors, front panel etc etc.
The car will also be polished tomorrow to get the minor blemishes out and get it looking like a mirror finish!
Also, who can spot the minor change/differennce that I haven't showed before. (Hint = it's to do with something that's not a part of the car itself but something that bolts to it.)

Side repeaters removed? How do you go on with the mot with it?
It looks great freshly painted. I hope the guy doing mine at the moment does it exactly like this rather than spray all the bits while still attached to the car!
Yes the side repeaters have been removed and its all about who you know!
Regards the paint, I asked to have the bits removed and removed them myself. It really depends if they can be bothered to unbolt everything as its just easier to mask a couple of bits up!
I got my indicators smoothed off on my old track car, you legally can with a mk2 as the front indicators come round the side of the wings, but only easy model mk1's that had none from factory are ok, otherwise it's an mot fail.
Did you do it royal mail red again or something else lol
Paints looking good!
Cheers mate.
Well got a fair bit done today. Got all of the glass fitted as well as the boot, wings and bumpers. I did try and fit my window surrounds but soon found out that they don't fit as they are well and truely bent and out of shape! So now I'm looking for a another pair that actually fit!
I had to get the car watertight so just refitted the rear windows. Once I find some then I'll just remove the windows and fit them again.
Once the car was outside you really could see the difference in colour! The previous red was very dark and dull and now it's very bright and very shiny! You can see the difference between the wings and front panel which hasn't been painted.
The car still hasn't been mopped yet so the finish is an 'out of the gun' finish. I can't wait till it's mopped as it'll look even shinier!

Whilst the car was jacked up at the front I noticed the back dropped a little. The height at which it was, is the height that I'm looking to go for. I decided to get a picture as I think it looks perfect!

Today, i'll be fitting the front and rear coilovers and a few other bits.
Looks gorgeous Liam!
Looking sweet sir keep it up.
Looks brilliant Liam, it's coming together now and that red I'm sure will standout more when it's seen in the flesh
The car looks sweet, I would be tempted to leave the window trims off as I think it looks better if you don't have the vinyl on the b pillar
Cheers guys!
Southie, it really is a 'standout' red at the moment even before mopping and polishing etc!
Chris, I think all Nova's should have rear window surrounds as it just makes them look soo much better as they flow with the lines of the car etc.
I went down today and got the front and rear coilovers fitted. The fronts fitted easily but the backs required a slight bit of work before they would fit. The coilover springs were touching the bottom of the inner wing slightly so a slight tap with the hammer sorted that out!
After looking at other peoples experience with coilovers I thought that I would have to get some spacers for the front but I don't which is a result!
Here's some pictures I took today. I'm happy with the rear height but I think the front needs to go down a tad more.
I'm just waiting on the other parts to be painted then I can get them fitted.

I'd get a close look at those rear spring seats and clean them up before the start to get rotten ;)
Yes I did notice that when it was up on the ramp. I had a good look underneath and they seem to be the only bits which require attention! Will get them sorted when I waxoyl inside the doors and rear quaters etc.
Did you try lifting /jacking the beam up slightly when fitting the rear coilovers?
As when the beam moves up into its static position the coilovers should clear fine, I thought this on my first nova, but now I know most will clear.
Looking good though dude.
Cheers Scott. We did see if they would clear with the car at "normal/static" height but they were still catching very slightly. They only need a slight tap each side so it's not too bad.
Anyway, Friday I went and fitted the other bits that had been painted. I fitted the door handles, spoiler, wing mirrors and grill. I was supposed to get the lock surrounds painted as well but somehow they were lost but found after the other bits had been painted, typical! They will be painted soon but I just fitted them for now.
I've still got to sort the grill slats out as the one that was in/on the grill was broken. I've got one on an old broken grill so will get it fitted before PVS.
My dad then collected the Nova on Friday evening and finally it was home!
Yesterday I went to visit Connor (again) to change the tyres over on the MO's and fit the T1R's.
Today i'm moving it into the garage and will be starting the removal of the head ready for the replacement head gasket. I'm just hoping the head doesn't need skimming as it will then leave me with not much time before PVS.
There's just a few more bits to do but i'll get there eventually.

Today we moved the Nova into the garage and started on the head gasket.
Luckily, it looks like there was a slight weep between one of the waterways and one of the pistons so there's nothing wrong with the head. I shall be cleaning the head and block up tomorrow and will get it all back together on Tuesday hopefully!
I can then get other bits sorted like lowering the front more, installing my helper springs to the rear coilovers that GAZ forgot to supply (until I contacted them and they sent them out), give it a decent clean inside and out and a couple of other bits.
I got a couple of pictures of it in the sun before it was put into the garage and I must say it's looking stunning lol... It's starting to become the car I wanted it to be and it's not far off!

OK, last week was very, very hectic trying to get the Nova ready for PVS. Finally, at 9:30pm on Friday it was finished ready for the drive up at 9:00am on Saturday morning....
On Tuesday we set about getting the head gasket fitted and getting everything back together. I also spent a good few hours tidying up the engine bay wiring and wrapping most of it in fabric loom tape. I also fitted new exhaust manifold studs and nuts as well as some 8mm red silicone leads.
Once it was all back together we started it up to find that it was misfiring. Now, when putting the leads back on (the old ones which were on the car before the head gasket was done) we put them on the order everywhere says, 1-3-4-2. After moving them around a bit we managed to get it running without misfiring in the order 1-4-2-3. This is/was really weird and we have no idea why this is? (That's why in the pictures below you can see that one lead is tight and the other is really loose/too long.
After that was sorted, we noticed that the engine was lagging like it was when we first put the engine in. Because the fuel filter was at fault before I ordered one straight away. Once it arrived we got it fitted and that fixed that problem. I think the reason the fuel filter got clogged up again is because I let it run pretty dry on fuel so it must have sucked some **** up from the tank.
Once we knew everything was sorted and the car was running right we changed the oil as well as the filter.
I took the Nova for a quick drive and all was good. It was then ready for its 300 mile round trip to Santa Pod! I really wanted to take it down the strip on the Saturday but being as it had just had a new head gasket I just wanted to take it easy! There's always next year...
Here's some pictures of when I was getting it ready and on the stand at PVS...

car looking realy well now liam
Very nice, although the reg plate annoys me slightly :) Needs a cheap private on to hide to age imo
beautiful car Liam, congrts!
Cheers guys! There's still a couple more bits to do before it perfect and hopefully they'll all be done before Billing.
Mazz, that's something I've been looking at for a while but I just don't have the money to spend on one at the moment. Having a look, I can get a 6 digit plate with my initials for £245 but at the moment I'd rather spend that money elsewhere!
Looked great! Looking forward to seeing it again at Billing!
No updates since PVS except cleaning it... Although I keep thinking about selling it and buying something RWD like an S13 180sx/200sx or an E30 BMW, but then when I get in the Nova and 'drive it' I fall in love with it again!
Today, I decided to test out my GoPro camera by attaching it the Nova on my way to the workshop. I haven't actually heard the car from outside so it was great to see what it sounded like. It's not as nice as my friends Corsa with a stainless system but it's still nice sounding, I even managed to get it to backfire a couple of times! :d
The video is currently being uploaded to YouTube so once it's done I'll post it on here.
Here's some pictures (artistic iPhone fail) of before and after cleaning it...

Since installing the single wiper i've never liked the use of a grommet in the hole where the other wiper should be as it just looked temporary.
I came up with an idea a couple of weeks ago to make use of the hole and make it look useful/needed so purchased a T pull cable and a battery cut off switch.
Today, whilst waiting for a couple of things I decided to give it a go and see if my plan 'worked'. I got a couple of very large repair washers and used them with the pull cable to achieve the below. At the moment it is not connected to anything but when I get some spare time, I'll install the cut off switch in the scuttle somewhere and connect the two together. I think it looks much better than a grommet and adds to the semi-motorsport theme.

I also forgot to add that I fitted my fire extinguisher today as well! I've always had one in the car but it's always just been in the back and I thought I may as well fit it securely somewhere I can get to it quickly.
After looking at a couple of places I deiced to fit it in front of the passenger seat and attach the frame using the seat subframe bolts. It sits very nicely and doesn't get in the way. You can move the seat over it with clearance and doesn't get in the way of feet.

Over the past couple of weeks I've been having thoughts about selling the Nova and buying something RWD, mainly something like an S13 180sx/200sx.
Over the past few days it's been getting worse and I even started to consider creating a for sale ad!
I think i'm just getting to the stage where everything 'affordable' has been done and I'm just getting bored of it. It drives crap and the ride is crap which really doesn't help it lollol
I would love to keep it and just use it as a weekend/track car but now having no job means this won't be happening in the forseeable future.
I think I need to have a long hard think about what to do really...
Any pics of the N/S inner arch repair?
be a shame to let it go mate, but if you don't want to go to that next stage maybe moving on is a good idea
If you're thinking like that then it's time to put it in the garage away for a few months, then try it again and see what you think..
