If youve gotten to the point of putting it into paint then id finish it off as youve spent way more than any nova will ever be worth doing all the repair work, id guess its either jealousy that youve got the end in sight when he gave up, or thats the real reason he split it and sold it on!
It wouldnt matter a toss in my eyes even if it were a rep, with all the right bits and engine, paint and decals who is going to care (at least it wont have the controversy (an)other one(s) have) lol

Also, how can most sport's still be called original? Most of them have had new panels etc fitted so aren't 'original' in the sense of the word..
MintFRST had it confirmed as genuine
Sturge also had it confirmed
Vaughan also had it confirmed again when he got it
Vaughan also put up a thread in Sportzone about him doing so ffs

the 3 speed fan switch may be a new one fitted because the person couldnt find an 2 speed at the time mate

i wouldnt let anybody make me think other wise just continue as planned mate and keep on the search for a 2 speed switch and bench if they still annoy you but there only a couple of minor points
Eh? Mk2 sport? SPORT NEVER HAD A SUNROOF!! it was a dealer fitted option as with the passenger mirror and radio etc. The difference i've seen from year to year is only the dim dip on the rear view mirror!Quote:

I laughed when I heard Vaughan thought it might be fake because of the sun roof and 3 speed fan switch. FFS I replaced the fan switch in my SR cos it went wrong, how hard is it to put it in IIRC its the same wiring.
I'd be hugely suprised if it wasn't genuine. Its a known car, all previous members have bought it knowing its a Sport. This only came about after the SLN skeleton story.
it sounds as though mcvaughan may be a tad jelous as its near(ish) to being finished

Keep at it Greg:thumb: , you have broken the back of the restoration, shell is always the most difficult bit, I should know, it took 10 years for me to get the SR sorted, it flew together once the shell was done;)
This Sport has plenty of history, from previous owners, so don't let derogitory comments dampen your enthusiasm.
Keep at it greg, and if only to put your mind at ease contact andrew d and have it confurmed.
I personally think its a cracking build and looks amazing, also think that the little boy who is affraid of the big smoke is very jelous that you have nearly completed the work, when he was to scarred to attempt it, and only held onto the bits he wanted.
Everyone i know of on here has the exact same opinion of the lad, so hold your head high and get it finished greg mate.

Just caught this thread up after being away for Xmas and new year. Andrew confirmed this car as genuine nearly 10 years ago to me! Unfortunately the dealer did fit the sunroof, the receipt for this and guaranty were with the history when Sturge bought her from me. Although it had had a few owners even when I had it the history was excellent with all previous MOTs etc etc.Quote:

This is a top project, you've done a great job with it. Would be a shame to give up on it now and IMO with everything thats been said about the car and all history that is with it sounds genuine to me. Jealousy is a terrible thing!!
i dont think vaughan is jelous, was his car to do what he wanted with, if its been confirmed before then it must be genuine, no wonder he left the site, all the biching and moaning about a car, ifs a gen sport fair enough but if itsnt stick at it, alot of time and effort went into it and be nice to see it completed. just dont see why everyone jumping to conclusions......

What a mission cleaning/rubbing down inside the car..
The floorpan inside will not be 100% but i couldnt bare spending hours and hours getting it immaculate when its just going to get covered by carpet again.
