It's still the wrong angle whether I fit it on the inside or the outside though?
Yeah £50 a set, the Magnum pair on the other page were £35+VAT per seat.

Bent the clutch opening a little more (now points towards front passenger corner of the car) and finished priming my engine bay.

Got the bucket seat mounted on the frames by fitting the upright pieces to the rails and then to the seat. And voila, one seat ready to fit:
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2/301.JPG
Shedload of adjustment and a really low sitting seat, winner!
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2/302.JPG
And loads of room here for harness and eyebolt:
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2/303.JPG
Room here to move it back on the rails as far as possible:
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2/304.JPG
Rails trimmed to size:
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2/305.JPG
And the new frames don't even use this bit I added on, doh lol

Frames where seat mounts to mark out holes:
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2/307.JPG
Now I need 20mm holes through the rails. First I tried the daddy of all drill bits:
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2/308.JPG
But that was too manly for my pillar drill so I went for a holesaw:

Holey:

Thread fits snug, ready to weld in to place:

One seat done:

Also holes in the side to puddle weld the threads in to place:

In the process of filing out these slider holes in the seat rail to accept M10 bolts. They are designed for M8 bolts unfortunately.

Was reading up on Corsa EPAS the other night and thought it sounded like a good idea, so picked this up from the scrapyard today.

Even if I decide not fit the lot, I'll at least use the double joint to straighten the steering column:
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2/316.JPG
good idea with mounting threaded bars into your seat rails :thumb:
might have to steal that idea
got your seat brackets sorted also :thumb:
Not my idea, was recommended this way of doing it by Tom Reid off here :thumb: It's safer as there's less stress on the bolt and the added bonus of being able to mount the rails lower down.
very true still think im going to have to try it :thumb:
Keep up the good work,
Also if you fit ePas dont you need the wiring and ecu Etc?
ecu/motor is all one on the corsa columns
arh so its just get a perm/ignition/earth feeds to it
I have two wiring looms coming off the column, there wasn't an ECU connected to it at the scrapyard. The motor has a thick red/black and there's a group of 5 or so coloured wires, probably for the ECU. I assume this is what the adjuster control boxes use which I'll probably end up getting, with an adjustment knob on the dash.
Adjuster knob as in adjust how stiff/light the steering is i assume? Think i may look into doing it just depends on how much hassle it is moving the fuesbox, are you going to be running part of a standard dash or completly custom?
The ecu is in the motor as one unit so there wont be anything else you need. Ive changed quite a few on corsas, common problem with them is the steering goes light one way/heavy the other
those seat rails are the bollocks iain
Oh, didn't know there was a common fault with them, hopefully this one works okay then lol
There's a group of wires coming off the column, I guess that's for speed sensor etc to feed the ECU?
TBH I haven't looked in to wiring it up, or even thought about fitting it behind a dashboard! I guess it'll get in the way of the fusebox though yeah.
Cheers Burgo, I'm well chuffed with them.Quote:

Definitely not after what I've just discovered! Just done a trial fit of the rails on the seat mounts, the rear's spot on but somehow the front is about a cm off, so will have to make a new one
measure twice cut/drill once :thumb:
Thats what ive always been told
unlucky about them being wrong but more practice means you could make more lol
Good work Iain. Going be quite a motor when its all done!!!
As for the insert, how are you planning on welding that into the rail whilst keeping it flat so the mount isnt sitting on a bead of weld if you get me.....
Looking good boyfriend. Would love EPAS myself.
Get it finished!
Adam, I plan to weld it on the bottom (and leave it untouched probably), puddle weld it through the side, weld it on the top and grind it flat on top. Should be fine like that I think.
Good stuff
Looks spot on mate, the rails are ace!
that will indeed be soundQuote:

Good work dude!
As said, top work. Like the threaded insert idea too! Might have to use that myself :D
when you coming round to do mine
Awesome work with the rail, very impressed.
Top Stuff Iain! glad you're going xe btw!
Burgo it took me a whole weekend to do one seat lol No time. Thanks all, I am also glad I'm going XE! Just need to source one!
Very nice work Iain.
Considering about 3month ago you didnt have much of an idea about welding etc, you've come a massive way :thumb:
I may be having an XE & f20 coming in soon mate.
Could do with one locally Simps, TBH I haven't even started looking for an engine yet, no time to collect one!
Iain, I have a complete bottom end that needs a bore, and I'm sure I have a head around as well.
There you go Iain, build the engine inside on rainy days!
You won look back! :thumb:Quote:
