I would definately try selling complete first as Im sure you would get some genuine interest amongst the tyre kickers. On simps old car........... From memory It didnt even have a standard crossmember. It was a serious piece of steel fabricated for the job and If someones actually managed to break that then they are doing damn well!! Unless its being confused with another shell etc?
