loving the exhaust
Edd, yeah io used the twisted wheels when doing the front arches so have a few in stock.
Under side will be done in bodycolour yes, might do it in bits (underside then boot floor then rear arches) Will be one more thing to clean and wax..lol
So sick of sanding the bay down.. But it's all done now, thank funk.
Cracked on to day to get the car up so i can clean off the under side. Going to to the under side in two parts. Main floor and under tank, then boot floor and rear arches.
So today i got on and got the tank off.. What a fun job.
Start removing pipes and the hand brake cable and bits..

Tank coming down, tiny bit of leakage. But not bad as it had 10LT of fuel still in it..lol
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...rsidework3.jpg
With that off i put the rear down and got the front jacked right up..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...rsidework4.jpg
Got the grinder out and did a bit of a test...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...rsidework6.jpg
Not too bad...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...rsidework7.jpg
Need a better face shield as i was getting covered.. But can carry on tomoz...
Watch out for the wires coming out of the knot wheel and impailing you mate!
It knacks! lol
You definitley need to use a visor, not just goggles. :)
This will be immense when all done. Gonna be body coloured underneath?
you will be pulling bits of wire wheel out your back for weeks trust me lol
Its a proper crap job
^ Yep. Double layers are essential! I done this to my Nissan in the summer wearing shorts. :/
It's when you lie on the floor and the ones that have flew off and haven't hit you then get impaled in your back as Andy says. lol I sweep up often too, but you never get em all!
I'm away down my garage to do exactly this now. Joy! lol
It's all worth it when you see that baby on the MOT ramp though, or when you can work on it without getting manky! :d
The bit I've done was a 5min test, all the cables will be removed or moved out of the way. I did the front of the car just with goggles on and was ok, but laying under it a face mask if deffo needed.
I had to hoover the floor to get all the dust off, was coughing like funk when i first layed under it..lol
Under side will be blue yes, polished fuel lines (to match exhaust) tank will be painted, but i might change it as its looking a bit tired.
id get some dust masks aswell
Mint! I was waiting for your sexy reply (not you :P Your plans for the car!)
Lovely stuff! Now I can go to the garage. lol
Dust masks, I was just wearing them over my mouth. The nose is too much, and makes it harder to breath/fogs the glasses and visor IMO.
Rather you than me Benn, Thats quite a task to get that ready for paint. It'll all be worth it though :)
lol i get them for the bodyshop.. Dont worry..lolQuote:

It a really sh*te one.. Really cant be arsed at the mo, but i want it done and should look nice after and i know there will be nothing hiding under the factory sealant...Quote:

Why's that Keith? Is it a night mare trying to keep it clean all the time?Quote:

Cheers Keith, i have thought of that. But i don't think it would look as nice..
I've seen how hard it can be to keep clean just on the front of the car.. But i did buy a very very good clear spray wax. So i hope that will help.
Yep, most pointless thing i've done to my car, no one ever sees it, but it annoys me when it's dirty. I havent cleaned it now in over a year and I dont plan to either. Eventually I plan to just re-underseal and leave it.Quote:

Yh it looks awesome when all finished and clean underneath it's 1 thing I really want on my project but as it will be White It will just be a nightmare I think il just do the arches colour codded instead.
Its great to see an update benn we all know that once you get in full swing of it you'll have it finished in no time.
Keith, it is a point thing really, but got to be done. Might have it on ramps at a show..lol.
Ben, i hve been really lazy as of late, blame the new woman, but need to get cracking on it, gonna try and get a side done a evening.. Dont know if i will tho...
Yeah, but you gotta admit, its better being inside your woman then inside your garage lol
Im gonna be paionting mine underneath, but wont be taking all the underseal off again. It took me weeks to do and was pointless, only surface rust was on the seams. So with my latest Nova i'll just clean the seams and go from there, then fully raptor guard the underneath then paint it in blue hammerite.
Yeah it is Andy.. lol
Sounds like a good plan and way to did it. Mine is very clean under side, bar a bit in the boot (next on the list) But you never know what's under the sealant, so i might as well do it the right way and take it back...
Do we have progress or is it all talk ;)
Got half one one side done(main bits need to go along the sills). Cold from laying on the floor. More tomoz.
Sh!t job buddy fair play for doing it on the floor!
Need to jack the front up more, then i can get to be bitter.
I hear ya!! I had some old carpet to lay on. It is a ****e job, but looks great when all done.Quote:

You and mechanics will really enjoy the bottom of your car being painted lol
You got stuck, he he he.
Good grafting skills Benn as ever, I like progress pictures though ;)
I'll take some for you tomoz, and every one will know its done... That's what counts...
Dived in today.. Got the rear end up in the air...
Still not loads of room..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...n/IMG_9519.jpg
Now getting down the pass side was never gonna be easy.. But here the space i have..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...n/IMG_9527.jpg
Quite a bit you think? Believe me it isn't, even more is your a portly chap like me (read as fattie) This is almost how wide the gap is...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...n/IMG_9528.jpg
One on the floor..
Sadly before i got the car it was jacked up by people who have no clue where to jack and fitter at Kwik fit or such(but it was well serviced).. Hence this chassis leg is dented in.. Gonna try and straighten it out..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...n/IMG_9523.jpg
Tiny but of rust where the fuel lines are held on, but it cleaned up nice and is only on the surface, so that's been rust killed.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...n/IMG_9520.jpg
Rest of the floor is totally clean, which was the main reason for this, as under the under seal there can be alot hidden. But its all good.
Got both sides all finished now, just need to get a bit under the tank and we're done.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...n/IMG_9525.jpg
The mess...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...n/IMG_9524.jpg
Looks like a spiders nest..
Gonna get under the tank end tomoz and get that finished and any other bits i see i'ved missed.
