Called up AutoVaux to arrange an exchange of the timing kit I got, should hopefully have one by the end of the week soon as I send the one I got back. Chaps there are very efficient. Did get another couple bits in the post today, got the rubber mounts for the pump cradle (which hasn't arrived yet)

And I got this too, I went round every independant motorfactor, big stores like Halfords, hardware stores and found absolutely nothing to do what I wanted i.e. connect to 6mm petrol hoses together. In the end good ol' eBay did the trick and I got this (old Vs new):

Just for a couple quid, and it won't melt after a few years being subjected to fuel as it's made of brass.


Still expecting a couple more bits to arrive apart from the pump cradle.

Got a couple more things today... ordered some high pressure rubber injection hoses to use. Got 1m of 6mm & 2m of 8mm just to use here and there around the bay and fuel pump (anything that isn't sepcially shaped which would costa fortune from Vauxhall). Only cost £7 in total. Couple motorfactors wanted £6 a metre. Halfords didn't even stock it.

You managed to get yours running without cutting out?

havnt tried to fix it yet, want to get the exhaust on and everything neat and tidy before i try fix something that could be because of something i havnt got connected yet.

shouldnt be long until we hear yours fire up. :D

Well... yes and no... a tad longer as me and a good mate will be stripping the LET and freshening it up. After thinking long and hard, for the price of new big ends and main bearings, rings and a head set it would be almost silly not to as the history of it is unknown.

Should start stripping it soon to see what's what and get an idea of what will need doing.

It's been a short while since my last update. It's been a case of waiting for things to turn up really. Still waiting for the pump cradle/pump/fuel damper to turn up.

In the mean time I got a few bits that were also needed. I was doing a bit of tiding up the other day when I remembered that the door seals were a little corroded on the ends. Measured up the ones fitted and ordered a length from ebay:

A pretty good match with only a 1mm-2mm difference in thickness (largest size available on ebay). Shouldn't cause a problem though.



Also got some 13mm fuel hose rated 20BAR and a 13mm - 8mm brass reducer just in case.

Whilst in the garage I found the caliper dust caps in a crap state so being bored and not really wanting to spend time in the garden in the rain I thought I'd get them sorted as well

Also waiting for my good mate to tell me what days he has off. Problem is that he almost always works weekdays where I always work weekends. First would be to strip and check parts and order them. Then set a side a few days to fit the parts and rebuild. If worst comes to worst then I'll have to take another few days off work if we can't agree on free days... lucky I still got a few weeks of holiday left

Oo good buy on the rubber edging strip. I need some of that too.

Yes Benn, was £4.09 per metre and measures at 20mm x 27mm with the ones fitted to Nova's measure at approx 20mm x 29mm. I only really needed a length to cut out the worn bit and fit the new bit in as the rest of the rubber was in really good condition.
