Woohoo! today i've finally received my logbook! At long last! Just need my new suspension now!
Tyres for the steelies are on order, and i should be able to paint the steels and front panel some time over the weekend.
Result! What suspension are you changing to? Im not overly sure about my setup, still tends to understeer when you're pushing hard through the twistys.
changing to coilovers steve;)
Another small update! As i have no suspension, paint for wheels, or tyres i though i'd fit these today.

and 10 minutes later fitted!

I won't re-tighten the bolts untill i've fitted the suspension.
Also big thanks to mark for sorting me these.

Parts had better start arriving this week!
yeee-haaaa!
Today, after what seems like an eternity (2 1/2 months) my coilovers finally arrived! Just need to see if i can use the existing rubber top mount on them as i can't afford uprated top mounts atm. There's still a problem with them though but i can't be assed faffing with them this close to pvs so they can stay as they are for now.

Also had a go at 2k priming my wheels, didn't come out as bad as i expected!

Ooh nice coilovers!
Very nice....wheels are looking good!

Gaz=nice :cool:

what problem is there with your coilovers?and how come they took so long?(im looking to order some soon)
Nice collection of parts there, John was the pics of the sunroof any good?
Lol, one front spring is 350lb, the other is 250lb! I'd ordered 275's. They took so long 'cos i'd ordered them through chris astley, chris sent me a set out that turned out to be for a mk4 astra, so then had to sort all the hassle out with gaz, ending in me only getting them today.Quote:

Quite happy overall though.
Also my tyres turned up too, wish me luck fitting these babys!
It also looks like i may have to attack the arches quite severly too to get them to fit, hope i don't run out of time or funds before pvs!

Nice job :)
Ok, so i've been having a bit more of a fiddle, fitted the coilovers tonight, rears clear with no arch mods. Bit dissapointed the front doesn't go that low, but i suppose i've had to compromise with the xe handling etc, and also the fact that i've retained the original top mounts. (i'm presuming spherical top mounts will gain me a bit) Also had a mare with the paint on the wheels, but that's a long story!
Fitted a tyre on a rim too and had a bit of a play. I'm really chuffed with the outcome, tis the look i've been trying to acheive down to a tee! Rear arches will need minmal work (thank god!) Hopefully i can have some more time on it at the weekend, and get it out in the daylight!

Hopefully your recent luck improves and everythings sorted for pv lol
Hope to see it there :)
Thanks ad! Primed the rocker, plug and belts covers and front panel after you'd gone. Just checked after tea and i'm pleased to report it's dry! lol.
(cheers for collecting me that box too.)
Lol.
Good stuff :D
ohh bandede steelies awsome, and them gaz coilies look soo much better than mine
Lloyd
Nice stretch ! but you need a lower profile otherwise tyres just look bubbly/balloony lol
:thumb:
Lol, try finding a tyre less profile than 165/60, that someone actually stocks, and won't cost more than the car is worth. :p They don't look bad at all in the flesh.:)
Cheers for the link btw, will check it out when i have 5.
Absolutely awesome transformation, looks the nuts :thumb: ... definately given me some inspiration for when i find right car. Hope to see it at a couple of the shows :)
Thanks fella, Should hopefully be at some shows this summer! finally managed to drag my ass into the garage today (after a monsterous stag weekend in devon) and get it out for a wash. Have finished the painting, it's come out naff tbh, not happy with it at all, and is something i probably won't do again. Also decided to vht pain the back box, it looks much better now. Suspension needs setting up too, it's now taxed and insured so should be able to sort that this week. Still not too sure on the euro plates, but they'll be staying for now. Catch you all at pvs!

Looks really really smart - I'd maybe remove the rub-strips ?
