Got a feeling the sfi box isn't sitting flush, I only have 3 bolts in and 2 of them are rounded so not tight properly.
But can't find any anywhere, if anyone has some for sale that would be grand

I found out what the problem was with the fuel pump not working, the wire had come out where I had connected it haha so now have a working fuel pump rather than it running all the time on ignition.
Also got the arb fitted and drives loads better, dont have as much torque steer now.
Still have a problem with hunting idle, tried everything, going to borrow a brand new icv next weekend to eliminate that and if that's what it is I'll get one ordered.
Excuse the paint chop on the bumper, when I had it sprayed the guy didn't plastic prime it ffshttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...8a5b86fa43.jpg

Just a daft one but check the doughnut rubber on the sfi airbox. And that the airbox actualy has the gasket under it i know this might sound daft but i have had both of these problems on an xe and searched for months to sort it thinking it was simply sensors etc

It's a brand new doughnut I put on.
Not got a proper gasket, bought one off ebay and it came and paper thin, so put it on and put loads of gasket sealer on so shouldn't have any gaps, I have sprays wd40 around it while running and revs dont change

Other daft issue i have had was the non return valve on the vac pipe to brake servo. Car only ran smooth with brake pressed down lol

Yeah it drives like a completely different car with it on.
Just unstable with it of, put the power down and it was all over the road.
Put It on and it's stiffer and drives loads better, the power delivery is alot smoother and doesn't pull the car to the sides as much

Good to hear first hand experience, this will likely make me look out for a front ARB
Been bashing my head trying to sort out the hunting idle, borrowed a brand new gm icv from Adam Beard put it on and idle was at 3k, fucked about trying to find any air leaks put new gasket on sfi box etc.
Then trued the tps moved it slightly so was in the middle and boom idles alright now, idling at 1k and revs clean doesn't hold revs just comes straight back down.
Only slightly hunts now if I have heaters on full and headlights on.
So looks like I need a new icv

Got the side skirts finished spraying and put on today.
Still need the wheels refusing but that's gonna have to wait because I've ran out of money to spend on it lol.
So tyres and an air filter then it's ready to go for the MOT https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...ac069d2478.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...f40f03516a.jpg

Looking well pal liking the vxr too!
Cheers mate, I just bought the vxr had it 2 weeks.
Good car just needs a couple bits sorting https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...d2878b447c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...56b8a1e3dd.jpg

Looks well. Standard power or mapped ? I like the vxr but would love a mk4 gsi!
It has had a remap but not sure what to. Definitely shifts lol.
I had a mk4 gsi, loved it until someone pulled out on me and wrote it off

Not good pal. They are going up in value now.
They are, I paid ?1500 for mine low miles completely standard too. Be worth about ?5k now if I still had it lol

Bargain pal that was
Very nice, Iv a nearly full rep in white also but mines a red top. Good to see another saved 👌🏽
Took the nova out for a test drive with my boy.
Drive alright just a few teething problems like I still don't have 5th gear and my heaters aren't blowing warm.
I also gave it a wash and on way back home I lost all gears haha, my clutch cable needed adjusting so quickly sorted that at side of the road and carried on.
This 5th gear and heater problem is doing my head in, I've tried adjusting gear selector a few times and tried bleeding the heater system, going to try jacking passenger side up as high as I can and try bleed againhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...ddb3beae56.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...1ee98136f3.jpg

Are all the pipes getting hot? All piped up correctly? Was the car originally a 4 speed if so you will need to cut the white block down on the gear lever as it will hit and wont let you get the stick far enough over to get 5th.
Yeah all going the right places and they're getting hot

Check all the pipe ducts and controls if you had the dash out maybe something come loose or blocked somewhere.
Checked it all. Everything is as it should be, I'll check the heater control again. But if not then maybe an air lock

Was the car a 4 speed?
No mate 5 speed

Keep squeezing the main pipes while running with the heaters on full and go through the position settings may help.
Oh right take it you did the drill bit method when setting it up while moving the gearstick over as far as possible and tighten the bolt up!
Yeah mate that's how I set it up and still not got 5th.
Wondering if the selector fork for 5th it shagged

Strange pal usually works. Yeh maybe something is fcked.
Really cba taking it all apart again lol.
Hoping I can get the end off the gearbox and see what's up with it
Sent from my SM-G988B using Tapatalk
Yep its shite having to strip it all again.
Back to the drawing board lol

Looks great mate, havig it on the road running is an achievement in itself, I'm sure you'll get the last niggling issues done soon.
VXR looks really tidy, great colour too in Black.
Brother has a Nurburgring edition.
I sorted out the threaded hub with a helicoil so I now have 4 tight wheel bolts haha.
Also chopped off the lug on the gear stick so I can now get 5th but it's hit and miss, so I still need to do some adjusting, I'm thinking if I push the lever down and all the way to left when adjusting then it will give me the extra travel to get 5th.
Also took it for a test drive and its uncontrollable when you give it some, throws the car all over the road and just spins up.
Need to try work out how I'm going to stop this torque steerhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...9e809ab2bc.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...3c145c8c17.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...4db7e0b777.jpg

Thought you said the car was a five speed before?
It was 5 speed 1.4 merit
Sent from my SM-G988B using Tapatalk
As said before maybe try equal length shaft to reduce some of the torque steer. Have you checked for wear in the linkage ?
Power steering would help slightly with the torque steer but quite a job to get it fitted so probs won?t be best route. Are you on a poly bushed front end? Also what diff are you running?
