Looks absolutely mental!!
Awesome:)
You have a great car there, I wish I had your engineering talent and to be honest dedication...
have you had it on rolling road? What are you getting out of it? Also I know you put a Quaife diff in but what about Quaife gearbox?
Thanks guys! :)
Never been to a rolling road so i have no idea how much bhp it produces... maybe i should do that lol
I'm not sure about changing the gearbox at the moment, first i want to have a decent power output from the engine before i start thinking about upgrading the gearbox.
Maybe someone got a decent second hand 16xe (around 180bhp would be nice)? ;)
Hardly boring pics mate this is one of the most aggressive nova's ive seen, Love the handy work youve put into this, Carbon fibre Bumper and wing time soon ;)
Stealth bomber gave birth to a Opel/Vauxhall lol
Definitely need to get your self some stickers made up, Stealth theamed, like the do not step etc lol
Mental. Love it.
Good stuff..
Looks terrifying..
Nice one..:thumb:
long time no update... not good! lol
so what happend in the last two months:
treated myself by getting a new trailer, which is much better for the very low nova
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps001642ed.jpg
i like that view
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps870cc563.jpg
Then took part in a slalom event like every year :)
Ready for race and test all the modifications
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...pse4b0ead7.jpg
1. Training run
Because the bumper was very low and i didn't want ot to be damaged i drove very slow and cautious.
But unfortunately the changes on the suspension i made during winter made the car nearly undriveable :(
the car just bounced when i hit the throttle
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MF7OY_IGIB4
To be on the save side i removed the bumper after this run.
2. Training run
without bumper at least i could hit a pylon without damage... and that's what i did at 0:42 lol
the suspension turned out to be much worse than last years problems, but on the other hand the EPAS was a real suprise!
The EPAS makes a real difference even i just set it to minimum assistance
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvbkuwgu8qs
1. Timed run
Trying to make the best of it :(
At least the EPAS is a real joy! It tranforms the agility
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuCFXjklF50
2. Timed run
Wheels catching wheel arches, suspension bouncing under full throttle... coulnd't get much worse lol
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHvBIpI27Mk
3. Timed run
Hit a pylon at 0:48
Fastest time 1 Second slower than last year :-/
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eTdh_SJ0Jw
To the pictures!
First run with bumper
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps1cdec9a1.jpg
first thing to to after winter: empty the exhaust system :d *cough cough*

The track was very dusty this year
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...psb74e2dbb.jpg
relocating a pylon for wide cars :)
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps2ffa0c51.jpg
...nuch better now lol

Results
Despite the massive problems i managed 5th place out of 21! :thumb:
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps2392138e.jpg
Now it's time to sort out all problems, i'm confident. At least now i know how to work in the wrong direction
On more trophy for the the cabinet :)
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps7b63238d.jpg
Fantastic results, good work. Youre car is always fantastic:thumb:

That would be impressive.
Hahaahahhaha nice photoshop lol
ok here's what happend the last few months:
After my suspension problems i started to search for a solution. Main thing i wanted to try is to maximize suspension travel.
Maximum suspension travel before (passenger side jacked up)
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...pse067ac4f.jpg
intended suspension travel (driver side jacked up)
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps01519ea4.jpg
while checking the suspension i noticed some play in the steering. steering arms worn out..
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps9370b81e.jpg
so i decided to replace both steering arms. :)
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps75e76417.jpg
To maximize suspension travel i ordered a new pair of tender springs which are 20mm longer than the ones that came with the coilover kit
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...psf897dbfe.jpg
checked the lsd differential for possible problems and had the opportunity to make en oil change and replace seals.
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps9b3f61a0.jpg
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...psfecd3087.jpg
than ordered new springs for the rear to also modify suspension travel
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...psf23712c3.jpg
found a lot of rust :wtf:
front driver side
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...psfaf23cf7.jpg
rear driver side
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...psd98a6bf8.jpg
and sorted out :thumb:
front
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps38590a1c.jpg
and rear
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps6f2d6230.jpg
found a way to reduce weight by changing the springs on the front
original coilover spring set: 1'159g
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps352bae86.jpg
new spring set, longer tender srping, short main spring: 1015g! saved 144g per side
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...psa81fda87.jpg
looks like this now
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps30933deb.jpg
Rear suspension:
new tender springs, lot of travel and just 16mm when compressed.
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps2c26551f.jpg
new rear spring setup
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps0dd2393a.jpg
found a way to lower the car as much as possible and raise the roll center of the car by approx 30mm.
roll center (blue circle in the middle) before.
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...psd68c7170.jpg
to raise the roll center the wishbone has to be moved 20mm upwards
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...pse622515e.jpg
wishbone in original position
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...psaa7ed108.jpg
drilled holes 20mm above the original ones
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...psbe78e47f.jpg
wishbone mounted in new location
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps95ef7fef.jpg
now the wishbone is pointing down, and the roll center is raised. this should minimize body roll.
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...psb303e43d.jpg
Testing day :d
Had the cance to test my modifications at a trackday in france
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...psa5c60ab7.jpg
the car felt much better than before, had to adjust the dampers and the suspensions problems are nearly gone.
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...psf4a38c6b.jpg
cornering with less body roll
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps1675e677.jpg
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...psdeb26d3c.jpg
the tired marks on the right are mine... cold tires, too much speed... ran out of grey stuff lol luckely no damage to the car
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...psf93390cc.jpg
unfortunately also ran out of brakepads :tard: after that the day was over :d
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps44285107.jpg
Cool mods, like it.
used every bit of the brakepads
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...psbcc628e8.jpg
Changed hte pads and one week later took part in a slalom in austria :d
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps07de8572.jpg

http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...psbe47ad78.jpg
have a nice week! :thumb:
Looks great, like that you've used every bit of pad.
Handles well and sounds lovely!
Wohoo... That "in the air" picture is so cool!
that's real nice :)
Goes as well as it looks.
cool as ****.
you can see the difference in body roll in the two vids. what poundage springs are you using on the front and rear?
I have a lot of body roll on my nova which has been better since lowering the rear a bit and found that a front ARB helped a lot. im interested to try as you have. thanks for sharing. are you running a front ARB? Id advise you try it. I was surprised to find it an improvement.
Thanks a lot! :)
I'm using 120N/kg (685lbs/inch) on the front and rear. My problem with using a ARB is that my front lower suspension can't support the original ARB, if i wanted to use one i would need to make some custom ARB.
I don't use an ARB on the rear as well, but i'm quite happy with my suspension setup at the moment, adjusting the dampers to suit the springs can also make considerable difference as i found out, so i will stick to it for a while. :thumb:
Just read all 32 pages...... amazing mate, a credit to you. If you don't mind, what's the colour called you have used on the inside?
Cheers Grant
thats pretty stiff then. im running 600lb rear and 375 front with front and rear gsi ARBs. I have the 8v so slightly lighter up front but not that much. I might have a play around with some stiffer fronts and see what it does. im getting a bit of tramping on the front when i pull out of a bend and the diff is locked so the stiffer springs might help this. Have you ever had this?
