Cheers. Only comfort i can take really, is that it was on tick over RPMs, and that the rest of the valve didnt drop out!
I dont consider it a bodge either! , gutted about the valve!
Cutting a crimping all the wires, when you can just solder them all nicely away in the foot well, but ok.Quote:

So when you want/have to remove engine rather than just unplugging the loom from the car you have to either cut the wires in the footwell or remove the engine loom and starter loom from the engine, good logic! FfsQuote:

Yep. No offence but i have spent a fair bit on the car and i wasnt about to rush/bodge it at the last crucial moment! Which is why i am even more cheesed off! Took my time, did it all right.
No no, dont get me wrong i didn't mean that. Just when you said primed the engine as long s the pressure was up everything should have been filled with oil.
No, you use the nova starting/charging loom. Which is 3wires to remove when you remove the engine.Quote:

Thats what i reckon. The bloke that did the head work was recommended and seemed an ok guy, so i am confident he would have said if one was dodgy.Quote:

My dad is sorting the parts for me tomorrow, as i wont get a chance to get them before the weekend. Sooner i get the parts sooner it gets rebuilt!
Broken bits..

Mark on the top of the piston. Can get away with that, thankfully!!

Prior to this i sent my injectors away to be cleaned/rebuilt..

Old seals and other parts that got changed..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...a/IMG_0047.jpg
Cleaned injectors make a big difference.
Gutted for you fella, that is unlucky! Could have been much worse though.
as stated could have been much worse than what it is!! at least your not having to change the piston!!! could have been allot more expensive!!
Pretty pointless update, but...
Rebuilt the engine friday. Started first time, no tappet noise. Sounds sweet as a nut. Got that nice XE rasp when blipping the throttle. Chuffed to bits. Will crack on this week.
That is all!!
That noise is such a relief when you have had problems previously isnt it :)
Still a good update mate, nice to hear its all gone back together right this time :)
Update...not much though. Again!
Now running sweet. All gears can be engaged. Celebrated by driving off and on the drive lol The neighbours must really love me now!
Started sorting my interior. Had to construct some bars for the roof lining. Much love to bazil for his thread. Helped me massivley. Will hopefully get that in next week. Also washed all my glass and rubbers ready to fit them. Soon as thats done, just bumpers then sort the tracking to a certain degree then might get an MOT!!!

Looking very nice dude, rear looks a lil high tho...
Bay looks nice.
Coilovers still have travel in them. Didnt want to ruin my nicely painted arches. Yet!! lol
lol ah cool cool, get the glass it dude!
Whoo it's alive! glad to see it move mate, looks lovely.
Scott
Cheers for the comments.
Had a smashing time today!! Started to refit some of the glass. Cleaned all the rubbers, windows all ready to go back in.
Started with the rear window. All was going well, until i touched the seal on one of the corners. Bang! Shattered. Bugger lol
Gave up on that.
Sorted my Manta mirrors and CF base plates. Managed to sort that without any cockups!!
Pics in a mo.
What did you touch the screen with? I had hitting mine very hard with my palm yesterday and it was ok.
My hand!! I dont think the seal was properly in, so the glass was flexed. Ah well, not exactly rare!!
Great to see she's a runner Pete! :)
Nick.
Looks mint in the vid and the pic,
cant wait for this to be built back up :thumb:
Update. No pics yet. On my phone. Will sort some.
Got the front doors all built up. Glass, grey surrounds, CF bases for my mirrors aswell!
Managed to hunt down some material, so will be speaking nice to mother for some sewing skills!! Got the metal fro B&Q to make the 2 rods.
After thats in, rear opening windows need to be sorted and front windscreen. Will be asking my mate (who works for Autoglass!!) to do this after my rear window fail! Also its a heated screen so no room for error.
A stealth last minute bid on ebay saw me the owner of some GSi bumpers. So they are off to be painted along with my skirts.
Wheels are being stripped and sorted. Then i need to sort my tracking so i can drive it for an MOT.
Fingers crossed i get all this done before crimbo. Then come new year a few finishing touches and i'll be able to show it off!!!

First time I've came across this thread.
Top work dude, also glad you got the engine sorted :)
It's looking fantastic! Love the engine bay, probably one of the best looking standard XE bay's i've seen in a while.
Mirrors are a nice touch :thumb:
I'm with keith, that engine bay looks well nice.
High praise indeed, thanks.Quote:
