Really nice work m8. Just read this whole thread and I gotta say I'm in awe. Can't believe you sold that red 1 though it was stunning. Hopefully mine will look half as good as that. Looking sorry for itself at the moment completely stripped an no front end lol
Keep it up. Gonna keep an eye on this :d

Cheers shrtwrec and hutchy!
Update time then guys....... Ive been a little busy lately with work and other things but I have managed to sort a few things I wanted to do. First off being the wheels as I had agreed a deal with Joe Richardson for my allesios so I had to crack on with the mo's, Decide what colour they were definately going then get them stripped and rubbed ready for paint. I did a fair amount of research colour wise as you can see from the cards below! My choice in the end was to forget metallics and go solid colour. Due to the age of the car I thought this would be more fitting with its era etc.
Lots of choice.........

Followed again by a few more test cards to know exactly what I was going to finish up with!.........

With the colour sorted I dropped the wheels with my local tyre place to have them stripped ready for paint. As Rick had recently had them powdercoated they were in very good condition which made life very easy for me! The insides were rubbed down and painted.......

A few days after the outsides were rubbed down and prepared for paint.......

Outsides finished.........

http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1256491633
Please ignore the colour you see here as it looks nothing like the above at all! My poor quality camera/skills! A few days after paint they were dropped back off at the tyre shop to have tyres refitted/balanced etc. Then I got them onto the car so Joe could take away the allesios. No full side shots as yet but heres a taster shot showing the colour I picked matches the original bumper colour rather well, You wouldnt believe thats the same colour as shown in the above pics!...........

With the wheels all finished my attentions turned to another task I wanted to sort being the cage and its colour. Ive never been a big fan of the red it currently is so I thought as the tax is about to run out anyhow this is as good a time as any to set about the task of removing it! The doors bars, upper fronts and front hoop were pretty simple to remove. I knew the rear half however would need the seats out. So I thought Id chance just removing the seats from the sidemounts to keep things simple hoping the rear half would clear them. Heres the Front half of cage removed and Seats out..........
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1256492836
I then had the back wheels off and unbolted all the rear half. The missus then gave me a hand to carefully remove the rear half from the car. It was quite easy going to be honest! And cleared with the front seatframes in with no problems. Ive heard some say it is a pig of a job but I do have to get it back in without scratching it yet!
One cageless/seatless nova........
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1256493249
Unfortunatly for the missus the seats/harnesses have now found a new place to live. Our office/spare room!...........
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1256493401
And bits of cage are all over the garage!..........
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1256493455
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1256493484
Hopefully I'll have the time within the coming weeks to get it painted (It will be in the same colour as the wheels) Followed by getting it back into the car trying not to scratch anything!
Lastly for this eves was one item I didnt even know the car had! As it was mounted on the cage behind the B pillar hidden by the drivers seat! As soon as I saw it I started thinking!
Take one fire extinguisher.......
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1256494518
Rub it down........
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1256494544
Masked and hung in the booth ready......
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1256494586
And the finished article..........

One fire extinguisher in Vaux Mustard yellow! I think it will look great once the cage is grey! Thats all for this eves chaps hope you've enjoyed the read! :)
Nick.
Good work. Wheel/bumper match looks spot on.
As ever nice update Nick :)
Love the yellow extingisher, it's the little touches that make the differences.
