i agree, start doing it all now
yeah fit the f28 nothing like a novelty gear.lol
This man speaketh the truth. Show season is pretty much dead, weather is poo....get it in A1 condition ready to rock for next year.Quote:

Yep more agreement from me, it will save stripping it all down to do it again, anyway it's now your winter daily so I hope you've swapped your alloys ;)Quote:

well iv never driven a 6 speed nova but my mate had one in his astra turbo after his 5 speed blew up and it was much better to drive in my opinion but every one to there own i suppose
if your going to do it tho now is the time.
I imagine an f28 is cheaper than a diff, maybe chrome gearbox casing as well while you are at it?
Bummer on the rad btw
Yea be nice to see the box casing chrome'd benn that would finish the bay off nicely.Quote:

Scott
Polishing the box will take a bit of time up! I know a few who have done it with great results etc. Suit your car too ;)
Nick.
i drove a nova turbo yesterday with an f28 fitted.....meh dont get all the hype just something for the spec sheet.*imo*
Hybrid turbo....
I think you're meant to do that when you're banned from driving lol.Quote:

Another vote for keep it off the road and improve it Benn. You're missing nothing this time of year, and the gritters willl be out again soon. :( Involuntary shot blasting sucks! lol
Is it your only car benn? Your daily runner? IMO I'd take it off the road fit the f28 and any other plans that you've made whilst it's off the road. I crashed my gsi 2 years ago due to the crappy weather and also remember at the time quite a few others crashing there cars due to it.
IMHO benn I wudnt run it through the winter do you really need a show class turbo nova to drive thru salt and snow? No I didn't think so.
Also why hasn't there been a feature on this car yet? Something your not intereted in?
Look forward to more updates.
Id wait until the start of the new year, more likly to be snow on the roads then! Keep it on the road for now while its just wet. I presume you dont use the car much anyway?
Sorry to hear of this bad luck my friend.
If you were planning on fitting the f28 for next season anyway you might aswell do it now while the car is part stripped. In regards to engine rebuild - if you can afford it. Do it once and do it right but will cost you.
To all the f28 haters it IS a much better box. Having owned both and not just driven the once or odd occasion it makes the car much more pleasant to drive - especially on the motorway.
just make sure your ready for spring action day next year, you can do battle with my new rust bucketlol
Yeah, i think its prob best. I just like driving it that's all. And its the whole thing of is it worth fitting the F28..Quote:

No clue on the feature, i'd love it to be in there..
Cheers dude :)
I try not too, but it does get used in the rain.Quote:

I can afford a engine re build, have alot of the stuff already (zlet oil pump and stuff other stuff is small really, might fit ARP's but are they really worth it when i'm not upping power that much, billet flywheel and new clutch and maybe a Quafe) Not much more really needed engine wise, just wanna stop the oil leak (oil pump gasket i think) and have a new head cause the stem seals are leaking..
Being able to drive on the motorway at under 4k would be nice.. Is that really the only difference?
lol it will be don't worry. Even if i let off, cant believe how easily you past me... lolQuote:

F28 is stronger than f20 so you know it will cope with power better. Only real prob is the syncro's failing.
It just really drives nicer Benn. Sat doing say 70/80 on motorway then planting your foot in 6th on Ph2 is a hoot! You'll be 130+ is next to nothing!
lol cheers dude.Quote:

As Simps said, on long motorway runs the F28 is great, you can sit at 80mph off boost, and when you nail it, you can just hit silly speeds.
i d fit the f28, but if you have no gripes with the f20 then stick with that, at your power level the f20 will be reliable
Dave Marshal is running a f20 with a atb on his turbo nova and works fine mate.
You can sit at 80 off boost with an f20 dude, its just loud at you'll be at 4k rpm.Quote:

Nick.
I'm happy to help if I can bud.
A mates running an f20 on his Saab powered astra and that's over 200bhp. Has had no problems with it tbf.
Yeah that's the prob, i have no clue what to do..Quote:
