So so funny but we are sad as!!
speak for yourself boyo, that video rocks - proper funny.
just outlines how much fun (and progress) we had!
this is true i have watched it loads over and over top job!
Huge thanks for today matey that video is so funny i love it lol
thats a cool vid.
shame we didnt do that when we stripped yours olly.
well after helping James on the Saturday of last weekend (see vid)... on Sunday (yesterday), I had LiquidPug and his red french thing back on my drive again for more bits to do.
Steve mentioned he had a lot of movement in the drivers seat of his S2 106, so we went about having a look, expecting just the captive nut to have come from the underside of the tunnelling, so maybe we'd need to either riv-nut a new one in, for the bolt to go into, or tack weld a nut ontop of the tunnel...
So after twenty minutes or so, we were looking like this... with the front seats out, rear seats out, and carpet lifted forward for inspection
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ars/R60038.jpg
considering we thought it was just the captive nut on the underside had just fell off, Steve was pretty shocked to find this little beauty lol
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ars/R60039.jpg
Thats from looking inside the drivers side, over towards the passenger side, you can see how it should look from the passenger one lol
Then cracked the Nitromorz out to get some nice clean metal, as we didn't fancy grinding in his car... Whilst nitromorzing, Steve noticed the rear leg too started to split the metal, so we decided to kill two stones with one bird.
Cut out and shaped some 2mm sheet steel, and twenty minutes later with some welding we had this (some of my neatest welding to day, i'll have you know)
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ars/R60040.jpg
Did it both front and back, sprayed zinc rust resisting primer on it, then some 'VW Mars Red' also known as 'Olly's old Nova towing eye red' lol
Sorted. stronger than it was originally!

Nice tidy Job that well done, Good welding.
You know what, it really dose not supprise me one bit! my mates missis has a saxo and her's did the same, but it split to where the hand brake attaches and one garage replaed her hand brake cable thee times till it was noticed!!
had the same on a mates birds 106, bloody tin cans!
Good work Olz, the benefit of the french stuff is half of it tends to be plastic so there shouldn't be too much rust hidden away lol
Araldite (sp) is most probably worth keeping in the glove box for future repairs ;)
lol JB
Shocked me that it was as bad as that...neat repair though!
Nice welding.
thanks chaps, only done welding a handful of times, so I'm happy with the results.
more to the point - Steve is happy with the outcome, no more rocking seat :)
I bet, i'd have been like SHEEEAT that shouldn't be there lol
Ah b*ll*cks, everybody knows my cars made out of drink cans now lollolQuote:
