Sounds like it's worth setting up some sort of charity/donation site so people can chip in for TBs for me lol

auction TJ off as a slave?
or rent the spare room and get tb's!
really cool car there pal
I would be most unhappy with any play in or around the bearing; is it the drive flange that's not tight enough interference or the knuckle's had too much taken off it you think?
The replacement bearing of the same make is a snug fit in the knuckle, and the hub in the bearing also. I think the play is in the bearing itself, I can wiggle it and see the outer metal stay still and and the rubber cover move.
I have a spare knuckle and a new bearing that feels good, so I could have it machined up to suit and swap the hub over into it.
Blyton Park full day open pit with Nova Ian off here on Wednesday, feels strange but there's not much prep to do for it!
Taking my GoPro so should hopefully capture some interesting footage to report back with.
Small bit of prep done, I've fitted some EBC Yellowstuff brakepads to replace the Ferodo DS2500s, looking forward to reporting back on how these hold up.

Also these came up for sale, Nova fitment 5mm spacers, so off come my universal 6mm spacers and spigot rings. They didn't vibrate like this really, but the amount my wheels go on and off it'll be nice to have one piece there only. Rears required a small chamfer to clear the radius on the brake drum, like the V6 spigots did.

All fitted up:

You could have bought my black diamond & redstuff V6 setup for the cost of those 16V pads.
They were only £60, rest of the setup seems to work OK so don't mind buying new pads for it.
Few pics from Blyton yesterday with Ian. Nothing broke and car performed as good as ever so good times.
Struggled to get the brakepads bedded in and feeling strong in the morning, they're feeling a little better now but not perfect.
Went out with Ian in his with some 300lb rear springs and it felt a lot more balanced so may be tweaking the rear spring rates again too.
My semi slicks are knackered now so going to get some better tyres for the next outing.
Also feel the car needs a lot more power for the straights, so pondering the cheapest way to give it a bit of a kick.

Usual picture of Nova on black wheels lol

Got some footage using my GoPro too, uploaded in 720 just to please Benn, here's one of me chucking it about the track trying to scare the passenger:

And one of me running out of any talent I had in the first place lollol

christ it look aggresive and purposeful on the matt cesaros with the semi slicks. I like the way the car has evolved further gradually since you finished it as a project, the more track days you do..
Reminds me a bit of martin hill's old nova when it was white- one of my faves.
Faster in a straight line.. cams, some headwork? NOS? buy some itb's off tweeks on a buy now pay later. lol.
Bang a let it for some more go
epic save lol, that new camera setup your running is top notch fella
Yeah loving the new camera too, interesting to watch what I do with the wheel afterwards.
I did ponder a LET but would it really be that cheap to get more power? Engine, loom/ECU, ancillaries, rebuild, FMIC, F28...
Some headwork, cams and inlet changes would be nice, but ITBs seem expensive too and I dunno if I dunno what kind of MPG some twin 48s would give? lol
Good save brother, for a minute I though "oh noes, here comes the armco" lol
Throttle bodies over the 48's. I ve had both & definetly worth the wait for the ITB's
They come up 2nd hand so keep looking for a nice set of Jenvey's
Thats a narrow track, good save!
Just get an interest free credit card & get em on order :)
get them autosprint 288 cams, that way i can know what they perform like with out me forking out :p
no and yes
LET on standard management is un-usable on track ime
Cheapst way of more power on straights is nos
About time on the video! Is much better being there too. 2nd vid, 0:17 man you take that S at a hell of a speed and seem to really hold it well thru it. What happened there? Brakes lock up? Or where you still slowing when you started to turn in?
I was doing some late braking to test out the new pads, was just way too late and hard on the brakes so probably locked up yeah. Cool LET is a no-no then, think some injection friendly cams and maybe a new head to try and stop it burning oil could be good.
Great save on the second video!
LET on st management is fine for track. A lot cheaper than TBs but TBs are better for track i think.
love the thread!keep up the great work. Where did you get or where can you get carbon door cards from and the rears?
Top stuff Iain, nice save in the vid lol
Camera position looks well!
If you want more power then why bother with some puff injection cams and single figure bhp headwork? get some decent cams and save for tb's, or forget all that and build a LET up.
Carbon doorcards were second hand but bought from Performance Trim when they were still going, not sure where you can get some now sorry.
Adam that's the ultimate goal really, but I don't have a huge amount to spend on the car at the moment. Another problem is I'm insured up to 165bhp and it's already mega expensive insurance. I've sorted myself out some mild cams now anyway. :)
i think cmc composites chris does carbon doorcards.
Just found a couple of pics on the Javelin Trackdays facebook page, looks quite nicely sat in the corners/under braking now?

Could do with going a bit lower, specially the back end
Few pics of recent work and improvements.
I tried out an SFI box to replace the powercap. Looked nice and OE, kinda lol

Wouldn't fit past the rollcage bar anyway:
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/686.JPG
It seemed to smooth out the rev range and felt quite torquey in the mid range however lacked the initial throttle response I like, so I removed it.
My exhaust kept working loose at the manifold, due to lack of flexi in the system (Why on earth didn't Ashley make it with a flexi?)
You can see here how thin the metal has worn, and the groove inside where the manifold has been eating into it:

Chop chop:

While I was under there I was a bit shocked at the state of my chassis leg, oops!

Now some improvements, purchased a pair of reground Kent AST 1612 camshafts:

Fitted up into the head:
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/692.JPG
Slight problem to overcome, the cams are later DISpac cams, you can tell as there's a thread in them:
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/693.JPG
This meant the dizzy sat like this as the central hole is a lot shallower:
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/694.JPG
Chopped 5-6mm off the end of the dizzy and it bolted up fine:
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/695.JPG
Impressed with the feel of them. It runs quite lumpy on idle now, feels like it pulls strongly right up to the limiter now. In fact I'm after a way of disabling or upping the rev limiter while retaining the standard (or chipped/modified) ECU!
The cheap ebay chips remove the rev limiter and they run the same
nice work mate, you dont hang about do you them cams would have sat in my garage for months before fitting them lol
Was thinking about those actually, if I can be 100% sure they don't mess with any fueling then that sounds like the cheapest way. Happy to get an aftermarket OMEX or something to manage the rev limiter.
Had them about a week and couldn't resist fitting them Turby, pretty happy with them although I was a bit worried they'd be coming out again when I noticed they're not early dizzy ones!
be interesting to get the nova on the same rolling road that you was on before and see the difference ;)
In the meantime, I'm building up my scene points hahaha lol Noticed my tow eye was barely reachable, perhaps my front bumper is sitting a bit far forward.

Don't worry it neatly packs away like this so isn't on show:
