I too thought it was brown!
nice work mate! i reckon vaux brazil brown!
Those rims are going to produce hella grip ~ did you seam weld the entire shell or just the bay? I like the poop brown :)
Nice paint dan. I recon it's either a honda or renault colour. I thought you had to go silver tho? Boss/sponsership type thing?
Sweet, I hope its as brown in the flesh as it looks in the pics
When i have done the bonnet and carry it outside we will truly know the colour lol lol lol
As said put next to the graphics it looks awesome so the colour isnt really an issue anyway as i havent paid for any of it, and it has led me to possibly having to trailor it at times and in the bosses words "use it properly not just trackdays"
The last bit wont suddenly happen but he is looking for a trailor at the moment and sussing out sprint events etc lol
I appear to have got a nice orange peel effect which i should be able to combat, if not then sod it, live and learn etc but the good news is runs are not an issue lol
Lmfbo, good job dan.... a dry finish can always be flatted to perfection... snotters can never really be gotten rid of
Farking brown, i could of given you some UPS brown which we have at work in big 5lt drums lol...
hmmm UPS Brown.... now that would look funky on a vx with some matt compound added :D
Nice Rims, nice paint.. Buuut why isnt this finished yet haha
keep up th good work
tbh this is a shockingly slow build for Dan... infact if you scaled it based on his other builds, then this has actually taken longer than Ians lmao
lol lol gay
Well i have just made a phone call that i really didnt want to do, and it is said that i may need a splash more thinners in the paint as the orange peel was possibly from the paint being abit to thick. So, when i do the inside tomorrow this method will be tried and if it works the outside will be alot better as tbh thats the only bit that i have to TRY and get looking somewhere handy.
One thing i do know for sure is once i have done the landy afterwards i will probably pay someone to do it next time lol lol
looking good dan. keep up the good work. really liking the wide arch way forward. Will have to have a look next month if possible !
Almost made me want one again. (only for a second) :)
Still cant understand how a ape can manage a paint gun though!
Keep the orange peel, it'll help with the aerodynamics - like a golf ball :cool:lollollol
lollol nice thouht!Quote:

I took the advice that was given to me with regards the paint and it flowed alot nicer out of the gunand the finish is 100% better, with the bonus of incurring only one annoying run. I have taken a few pictures this time so the brown lovers can see brown, grey's can see grey and black lovers can see black lol (as far as no daylight and a decent pic goes we have NOOOO chance of a true colour :tard: ) The paint is all but hard now so a very glossy finish:eek:
(please be aware these were on my phone in false light so not great :wtf: )

So thats all the not so important stuff done, now onto the scary bit which is probably the bit i run out of blind luck with lol lol
Nice job
looks good and the outside isnt scary thats the easier bit lol
That my friend looks fantastick!
Well done....
Scott
Looks very, very nice fella
well done looks good.
for some strange reason i really like that colour!!
I know its hard to tell from a pic but it looks nice and shiny so top job in my book! lol
Good work Dan.Does look brown tho to me.
I will have to pop down and see it next week as got no work at the mo also i have your grill for you from Ash.
It looks to me like it will go nicely with the header tank when the head goes porus lol lol lol
Very nice work dude, looks great and looks nice a nice shine. No turrets or welded in brace on the rear then..
that looks awesome
Looking good dan! Looks a bit, dare i say it, beige? I like it though, old school colours ftw!
lol lol Well hopefully i will have the bonnet etc done on tuesday so i can carry them out into the daylight for a true colour indication, the boss man came down again yesterday to see how its going and loves the colour , considering i am doing his landy straight after thats the main thing lol
Came back in this morning with a fresh set of eyes and overall its gone on ok again, not as much orange peel and still as shiney as the pics above.
Only bit that has annoyed me is the central part the handbrake sits on, I'm thinking some bits must have fallen off my clothing whilst positioned there to spray the whole of the inside which means my comment about an elephant or crow or some form of wildlife sticking out the paint is true lmao. Not the worst place for it to happen once the car has some bits bolted in but all the same its a shame considering the main area's came up better than expected.
nevermind, this whole thing was to be a learning curve which in itself is living up to its purpose with many lessons learnt
Looks blue now lol
I can see a little yellow in it. lol
Looking excellent Dan! Really looking forward to some daylight photos :)
And here are the daylight pics, not the best as in a hurry due to rain and on phone

Now i said i wouldnt put these up as last night i was devastated with the outside finish, proper upset me after evrything else going ok.
Basically the finish is awefull, very even with only 2 small runs, but very orange peely, it did this on the third coat so thinking maybe dry spray or to hot etc etc as i was being overcareful. After a good nights sleep and looking at it i think it will flatten, if not i will just have to sand it back a touch and do another coat which at the end of the day was truly expected as even experienced guys have bad days and i have only picked up a gun for 4 days in total.
So there we go, even when things seem to go ok, with total inexperience there will always be something to bite you in the **** and remind you of such :(
Battleship grey FTW!
Looks well Dan, liking the choice of colour.
very good but i was hopeing it was brown lol.
Looks good mate and ive still got your grill on the back seat of my car.
Well Dan I cant tell 100% from the pics as to how bad (according to you) it is, as it still looks like as you say you could flat it, or try another coat on top, are/have you putting a coat of lacquer on?
But i am still loving it!:thumb:
You'll just have to take my word for it on the quality, bay and inside is ok so its a great shame, but there we are.
No need for laquer as its a gloss paint, as seen in the pics its plenty shiney enough even in untouched form without a flat and a polish.
I'm just pleased the colour is as good as i hoped, now come to a sunny day and it could look totally different again, but i doubt by much as its just a flat colour paint, no fancy pearl or metallic. What i can say is i checked out any shadows the arches i blended in picked up and ran my eye across the area's, and i do believe i got away with that quite nicely lol
Ah well, just give her a good mopping over then and thats that.
Scott
REALLY Starting to regret not selling this!
Im so happy your doing it proud mate. This is what that shell really needed.
Shell looks amazing.
Arch's give it that Mean look!
more good progress there mate , all experiance aswell :thumb:
