Looks good underneath mate, keep up the good work :)
How did you get it on its side?
Did you stick anything down to protect the side panels?
Looking good though
Hey Ade, cheers for the comments:thumb:Quote:

Not the best pic but, you can just see the tyres its resting on at the bottom of the pipe, and you can also see the angle of the car is not totally on its side

Not much to report...
Gave the underside a second coat of paint. Started rubbing down/keying the engine bay ready for primer
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...Image044-1.jpg
Then removed the vynal from the passenger side B pillar and started filling/smoothing out the joins of the new quarter pannels

Can i ask, why have you plated up the side of the turrets?(boxed the gap in i mean..)
Looks good dude.
Benn: Thanks dude, I had them boxed in to give them a little more strength, definatlley not going to hurt. Also will give me somewhere to weld to if I ever decide to triangulate the cage.Quote:

Ah cool, do the turrets move that much? Or is it a just in case/why not..
Not that im aware, was just more of a why not case lol as said beefing them up a bit isn't really going to hurt
lol sorry i thought it was a track car lolQuote:

- Second coat of paint on the off side rear arch
- Seam sealed near side rear arch but it reacted really badly with the primer so I will have to clean it off and do it again
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...a/Image053.jpg
- Seam sealed 1/4 pannel Joins that will be hidden by the bumper so no need to make them look nice
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...a/Image052.jpg
- Carried on smoothing and shaping the 1/4 pannel joins on the b pillar and behind the rear window (I'm going to call it the C pillar!:tard: :) )

Bit more fettling required, there never going to be perfect, but look loads better and for an amateur at bodywork I recon I have done quite a good job!!:thumb:
Nice work mate. Certainly is now a solid shell.
looking good mate, certainly coming on quicker than expected :thumb:
keep up the progress and pics :)
Got the car on stands again and front end stripped for the final coat of paint on the front arches
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...a/DSCN2190.jpg
and painted
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...a/DSCN2191.jpg
Whilst I was doing this ste set about cleaning out the reacted seam sealer from the near side rear arch with the wire brush drill attachment and re red oxided it ready for a fresh coat of sealer
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...a/DSCN2196.jpg
and finally the bay seams sealed
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...a/DSCN2193.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...a/DSCN2194.jpg
The bays ready for some primer now. should look better with a coat of primer as it will be all one colour!lol

looks spot on now dude.. cant wait to see it finished :thumb:
Thanks people. ;) :D
another update, only a couple of pics though
Finished rubbing down the bay and blew off the dust with airline then wiped down with some thinners. Etch primer applied to bare metal areas and on the slam pannel
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...a/DSCN2242.jpg
Part way through priming
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...a/DSCN2243.jpg
And all done

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...a/DSCN2244.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...a/DSCN2247.jpg
The eagled eyed amongst you may notice the battery tray area is grey primer and the rest of the bay is white! this is because I ran out of white and only had grey left lol
Will get covered anyway:cool:
Nice update mate, engine bay looks 10x what it was when it was multicoloured :thumb:
Keep going... and you'll be on track in November ;)

Transforms the car just hanging some wings and a bonnet on, makes it look like its getting there instead of keep opening the garage doors and seeing a bare shell!

In preparation for painting the car I got hold of some polythene, wood and cable ties and made myself a make shift spray booth!lol
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...a/DSCN2255.jpg
Keeps the wind and rain out a treat! Im going to put some poly on the other side so as I dont get paint on the fence and so as it will completley cover the floor too, and finally a piece to cover the front up when I come to painting. :thumb:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...a/DSCN2258.jpg
Got some holes sealed up from when I removed the centre console and also gave the car a hoover out and got rid of months worth of grinding dust (Cheers for the vacuum Olz, worked wonders mate :thumb: )
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...a/DSCN2259.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...a/DSCN2257.jpg
Also gave the car a going over with the sander to get it keyed.
And Ollys new wings and bonnet looking good:thumb:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...a/DSCN2256.jpg
What is best to use to key the roof etc which still have paint/lacquer on?? I went over with 600gritt on the sander, will this be ok??
Liking the spray booth lol When are you painting your shell then?
Hoping to have it painted by the end of next month
looking damn good mate - glad you've got your motivation back :)
great timescales too - now lets add a little bit of pressure and book a trackday... for... say... January? lol
depends what colour its going, do 240 gritt on the da, if its a metallic, ideally after the 240 finish in a 600 or so...
Cheers Paul, its going yellow i think, and the car at the mo is metallic silver
Not much to show...
Boot hatch stripped of rear sceen, wiper, washer jet, locks/handle (Going to be pinned) and excess metal... Can't believe how light it is now lol
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...a/DSCN2261.jpg
Also stripped down both doors, removed all windows etc and are ready to be lightened too.
No other pics, but been very busy with the old sandpaper and sander! Got inside all rubbed down, and outside keyed up.
Removed and stripped down steering column to be rebuilt with my snap off column.
Finally ordered a new N/S front wing too, should have that by Monday. I need to get hold of all the clips and bolts to fasten both wings to the car so if anyone can help me out see my wanted post :D :thumb:
All boring jobs mate (I'm currently doing similar) but wel worth it. Keep it up.
Tell me about it lol!Quote:
