Thats a hatchback, the saloon version has hinges below the rear window & a silly boot opening. Same shape silhouette as the hatch.

mk1 astras had awful rear shell strength. my mum's 1983 1300 went back to the dealer times to try & sort out a persistent noise from the tailgate..... also, a lot of people prefer a boot. in really cold countries, a boot keeps the heat in the passenger space.

the orange one that won chairmans cup is my mates car, the blue estate next to it on the mk1 astra stand was his too, which i had drove down, he has a kadett c coupe too which is his next big project along with another mk1 astra he has and a kadett c saloon too lol
