Small update. My mate Rich came over again today to help with the wiring loom side of things. Got a fair bit done. Really chuffed now, can see light at the end of the tunnel!

The old loom coming out. The car was originally a SRi. These have intergrated looms so can be a PITA ti wire in. So i got a loom from pov spec Nova to make life easier.

Seats out to get under the carpets. Rich hard at work!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...a/IMGP2596.jpg
New loom laid out and checked.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...a/IMGP2591.jpg
I also had a play with my coilovers. Looking low and mean. Can still go lower too!!!

Not much clearance!!!
Really pleased with the progress in the last 2-3 weeks. I have 2 weeks off work starting friday. Fingers crossed i can get the exhaust finished, water hoses on, brakes bled and a few other jobs. Then get the loom finished and turn the key and hear it purr!!! Like a kid at christmas!!! Cant wait!
Sh(t me at all that wiring.. Why is it all un taped? Good work tho dude, comming together very well. Nice and low!
lol not seen a wiring loom before??!! I had to unravel it to make sense of it all. In the end i just decided to rip it all out and start again! Hence the new loom.
Looking good cant wait to see it done
I have, luckily none unwrapped like that. Cause funk that.Quote:

Anyway, Nova looks amazing with the shiney paint and the wheels, with the tyres around the wrong way :p
lol they are the old wheels. New Porsche ones are not ready yet!
Not a major update..
My 2 week shutdown started on the 26th July. Great i thought 2 weeks on Nova time. WRONG!! Had a major DIY session all of last week so only got a few jobs done this week!
Got the exhaust manifold sorted..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...a/IMGP2603.jpg
Standard XE manifold doesnt line up with my Magnex. So, i had to mod it to fit.
So after cutting, grinding, swearing, cutting etc....

....i was left with this. Quite chuffed with it really. Welding doesnt look great, but once it was all ground back, looked fine.
New position for lambda.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...a/IMGP2608.jpg
Sealed it best i could na dfired some air in via the compressor to check for leaks. None! Woohoo!
I then painted with BBQ paint and wrapped it.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...a/IMGP2614.jpg
I then fitted it. Pleased to report it all fits ok! Will get a pic tomorrow.
Also sorted my air filter and intake hose. Sorted my fuel lines. And a few other little jobs.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...a/IMGP2609.jpg
All i need to sort now is, coolant hoses (on order from Roose) put some engien oil/gearbox oil in and bleed the brakes. My mate Rich needs to finish the wiring, then a serious milestone of starting it!! The end is in sight!
Looks very nice mate :) Doing a top job
Looks good as ever dude.
What is the magnex system designed for? GTE??
Im in the process now for the track car, and SBD prices seem steep for a manifold, to then butchure it lol
Magnex is for err, pass!! mk2 fitment. It was an SRi originally, so GSI?
WOOP WOOP......:d SHE RUNS!!!!
Few little teething problems, oil cooler pipes are weeping slightly, wiring re: the Clifford needs sorting. lol had to wire the fuel pump relay directly from the battery!
But she runs. Massive milestone reached. After well over 6 years of work. Chuffed. Was super tap tap tappy at first but started to go quiet once it warmed up. Then it coughed and spluttered and cut out :(
No problem. Only had a dribble of fuel in the garage. Will get some more fuel, sort the oil leak and wiring and give her a proper run. Bleed the brakes and have a test drive round the close. Might have to warn the neighbours!!
Pics and vid (from my iphone so sh1t quality) to follow shortly.
Must be a nice feeling after 6 years, nice one
Video. Taken on my iphone BTW. Steam/smoke is my exhasut heat wrap! I wetted it, this was the first time it had heat through it lol
Good ol' GM tappets...

What's the relay on the fire wall for?
Why have you wired in the x5 plug?>
Looking good tho dude.
Well pleased for you pete, I remember this when it was a project back in the PVG days lol lol
Nice to see it nearly finished.

Looks good.
Along the same lines as benn is thinking id move the fuel pump relay and move the engine loom to between the bulkhead/turret if its possible aswell as moving the car loom section to over the top of the wiper motor as iirc that looks slighty better.
What is the round plug for anyway?
Too late. Its all wired in and running now. And TBH i CBA moving it all and it doesnt bother me that much!!
The round plug is needed to connect the engine into the original Nova loom.
Bit of a set back today. After getting the engine running, it was very lumpy. Changed a few of the known problem sensors, dizzy, arm etc...still no good.
Thought maybe it needed a good run to sort the lifters out. Tried again today, would not fire at all. Check the compression...no compression on no3 cylinder. Took the cam cover off, the lifter on the inlet side would move freely up and down under the cam lobe. Oh dear...
Camshaft off, lifter out, wobbly spring....broken valve. ****ing gutted TBH.
Took the head off, luckily the valve stayed in the collet and didnt drop into the cylinder. Its marked the piston but i can get away with that. Will sort parts and rebuild this week.
Pics in a mo..
Not good, but better then it braking at 5.000rpm!
Yeah i know. Just ****ed off. Had it in running, was starting to near the end (after nearly 8 years. Any longest ever rebuild gen lol), then this.
Gutted for you Pete........ trust me when I say I do know how you feel!Quote:

Bad luck dude, not to bad to fix tho. But time comsuming.
Re the x5 plug, you dont the plug as you can join all the wiring in the foot well, looks much better. Not being rude to you, but the x5 plug in therei s normals seen as a bodge.
Why is it a bodge lol it comes on the standard loom ffs...
Anyway..pic of offending item.
