car looks sweet, and with the spec it's going to have will be quick fun. i like the retro look of the red with the vinyl graphics to the all black and red hints.

WAHOOOOO!!! i got a Blydenstien B+ pack head, so big exhaust and inlet valves. So happy been waiting years to find one and it was so cheap for what it is. normally i see 2nd hand ones advertised for ?500 - ?575 this was half that *Dancing*

Anyway i've been polishing my carbs up and will be fitting all the new tubes and stuff soon, but i might spray the carbs black and leave the brass showing. Just need an AST2 now and the engine will be fully assembled. Also got my chassis plating kit through from Chris and my Sport side skirts are being picked up from Scotland today. Life is good

After a PM from bieransri about 16v pistons, i thought about it more and is an 8v bottom end with 16v pistons any differant from a 16v bottom end. I know the rally boys use the 16v bottom end so, do they have to do anything? i worried about piston/valve clearance, as 8v ones are dished and 16v are flat topped.

Good news on locating the side skirts Ash & even better on the cyl head. Those heads are sweet!

I like the sound of having the carbs done black. It'll really set off some nice fuel hose unions & the brass etc.

Ask Rallyman (chris Astley) about the engine/piston issues. I think you'll need the 16v rods too.

Went home at the weekend and got really pissed at a family meal at midday. Ace, anyway i picked up a few bits to be getting on with at uni.

whats de-seaming and whats the advantages ??

if i find a place to do the shot peening for a good price then yeah, not really looked into it.

Deseaming is removing the casing seams with can be points of stress under high load. Shot peening i believe is firing 'shot' at the rod to increase its strength.

Haven't done anything for ages as im finishing of my degree. Expect some big updates after 1st June tho ;)

Whereabouts you at uni ? A friend of mine in huddersfield lives in the same private student accomodation as a guy who's well into 106 Rallyes.

Suffice to say, a corner of the car-park is covered in oil stains and has a bare shell sitting on the floor ROFL
