Looks really good mate, should last many years of abuse now.
Decided I think I might be busy the weekend you fit the engine as you would kill me if I scratched the bay after its painted.

Seen as i've not updated my project thread for ages i thought i might aswell get a bit of an update on here!
Following up from the last pictures i put up of the fitted strengthening kit and all the stitch welding in the bay, the next step was to get the bay painted:
So a quick trip on the transporter to my mates unit and here we go:
Engine ebay all masked up and in primer:

Once i had all the bits that needed to be in primer sorted i then decided that getting the front crossmember painted would be a good idea as i'm going to be running an early mk1 one piece bumper and grill and there were a few stonechips on there etc so that was also primered.
Then a few layers of paint were applied:

Then a good few layers of lacquer were applied!
It seems to have gone a bit dry in places but i'm more than happy with the finish and the end result

Looking at the above pictures i think it was the right idea to leave the welds exposed instead of covering them with seam sealer as i was unsure whether they would look tidy or not but i think they look quite good oncee they have been painted!
