Why couldn't you get the entire floor covered in sheet ally?
I could do! Something I need to think about and read up on before just smashing it on and hoping for the best though lol
Dude have a look at Lee303 thread on Mig, he's done a full flat floor on his Nova.
Hmmm? I wasn't aware Lee's rear diffuser ran the full length.
He's got a full flat alloy floor, ending in a huge diffuser... I'll look for a pic...
Start of...

lol I think well all have to remember we are talking Vauxhall Nova's and not Formula 1 cars !!!!!!!!!
All that alloy stuff underneath is not going to make any difference that you will notice imo, therefore not worth the effort
If your trying to be Adrian Newy, give Red Bull Racing a ring instead of bolting coke cans on the unside of your 25 year old production car
It must make some difference. Mini go to the effort of putting flat floor panels into the John Cooper Works Minis and offer a rear diffuser of a similar design to the one on that Nova. There must be some gain worth the effort.
In my opinion your very wrong, Renault claim the tiny diffusers they put on clios work, so how can that not, I do also think his diffuser is to much of an angle but that just means its not optimised it doesn't mean it won't work. Dar also reported good results from his simple diffuser and that is just a diffuser.
tbh, it can't not help, surely its pretty obvious that being flat underneath has got to be better
Yes but Edd knows all didn't you know?
Doesn't matter what it is, it's drag from wind and such that cause probs, slow flow or stopping it.
I was gonna say look at the new line of eco Volovs. They have totally flat plastic floors as it reduced wind drag meaning smoother flow meaning better mpg...
Sorry, fort id got it right :d
Yeah Lee's done well to get the mid section entirely covered in such a simple piece. I had problems with the exhaust touching when I had a go, so have put that part on hold. What I might do is just cover the gap over the exhaust tunnel when I look at it again, to keep the weight down and as the rest of the floor is fairly flat.
I've added a splitter on the front recently and can feel the difference straight away at speed, so adding a flat front underside would be bliss.
TJ AND Edd, if you're only going to post drivvel and bait other members, including the staff, in the wip threads, then bugger off and play in muppet!
Back to the discussion of the diffusers, if you think they're pointless then go have a word with Lee and Dar as Dar's is similar to the one Benn posted up and he can only say positive things about it, said its done wonders for the cars handling and road holding :d
I am reading with interest and having a think. Going to drop the front end down a bit with a thicker splitter while I ponder flat floors, rear diffusers and the likes.

It's been refined since with the different exhaust I run and is now fully enclosed. Uses captive rivnuts in part too.
Surely the point of track day cars are for a bit of fun on a track. Most of the things you're talking of doing aren't even allowed in most entry level track racing classes. Yeh, they'll work, but surely for a "non competative" track days, you're better off saving your money and time, and putting it towards another trackday.
Where do you draw the line?!
Just my 2pence worth.
Probably not the best time to mention the car's never even been on a track.
Yes in theory its just a bit of fun chucking the car about on track. However there's plenty of fun to be had in development, learning things around stuff like this, making it faster/handle better, reducing laptimes (taken off videos, no timing on the day!) and the sense of achievement associated with that stuff. If you're not bothered about all that stuff just buy a 205 GTI and sling it about? lol
Cheers for the pics BRoad, very interesting :)
Nooo, timing is a no-no on the day! I just take laptimes from the video footage.
loving all the baiting thats going on here hahaha
its happening. deal with it lol
^ Hahaha.
Time for something a little less performance oriented. Undecided on it currently but it'll at least make it a little different to the other white Novas at the shows and it's still quite 80s/Vauxhally

I agree, the stolen skirts look is definitely different.
Looks good
Maybe same theme on the roof, quarters and tailgate ?
But im not like the stolen sideskirt look either lol
Like the graphics. Maybe the roof too?
Got the clips fitted then lol
Hhmmm i do kinda like them..
