mine is the 8.1 ltr EDS ones that are really thick, about twice as thick as Shaun's for example Benn. With a thinner cooler you should be able to get it lower with minimal trimming if you really want to keep the fans frount mounted.

Where you have cut looks abit close to where you have marked the holes for the rad reposition. Or have i mis read you pics?
Did the piece you cut out come in one piece? You could turn it and re weld it back in, if you see what i mean??!!

Yes its close to the holes, will have to trim the rubber mounts down.
Yes it came out in one bit, but thinking a thicker bit for added strench.
