Run out of fuel? Haha
Looks very flat in the pics which is good, what temp does the oil get too?
Will watch the vids later.
Looks like you're giving the car some great abuse dude! And as said, in the vid it actually gives a food feel of speed!
Oil temps were nearing 120C again, although pressure wasn't dropping off so this new Valvoline 15w50 is doing a good job.
My mates sent me some photos he took, wow he's an awesome photographer!

Loving your car on the black wheels mate. Photos are brilliant, hope he's coming Cadwell lol
those pictures have come out well
the shot with the powerstation is awesome!
edit: that fat dude in the passenger makes those seats look tiny!
What did you do shoe horn the fat fecker right in there
Nice one Iain, looks like it handles superbly in the vid!! :)
And that pic with the powerstation in the background is top notch!
Rofl it does look a bit like that doesn't it lol Well chuffed with the photos though
Onwards with repairs, box it out awaiting a stripdown to see why it's crunching. Took it for a spin earlier and its especially bad going from 4th to 3rd at high RPM

http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/595.JPG
I think some spacers on the front are required lol
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/596.JPG
was the road video taken near nottingham?
Good work Lemonel! Can't beleive you ran out of fuel, then broke the box :(
well going to 4th to 3rd at high rpm I'm not surprised it crunches, you're supposed to change up at high RPM, not down.
480p? *shakes head* get that camera turned up.
Vid is great, very fast looking, very controled and fast and smooth too.
Box all sorted after two long days put in to it
Cleaned up my spare gearset:

Refitted into the housing and fitted my diff (teaser pic for Nova Ian lol):

I hate the F20 paper seal and way of draining it, so I got an F18 steel cover and seal from the scrapyard and made a drainplug (M12x1.5 fine pitch so I could use a magnet in there if I wanted to)

Lick of paint to stop the rust and fitted. Issue is the bolt is too long and hangs down a little way so at some point I need to drain it, fit a smaller bolt and refill it, doh!

Filled up the box with this lovely stuff:

Finally, sorted out my Nova knuckles with Cav hubs and Audi/VW bearings. All machined up and pressed together:

Small closeup of the machined knuckle, regrooved circlip and meaty hub:

All painted in my favourite POR15 paint and bolted up awaiting discs and studs to be swapped over, with my short big-block CV'd shaft:

Equal length bad boy bolted in place:
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/606.JPG
Test driven it and it seems a success, gearbox feels tight and no crunches!
Any noticeable benefit whill driving about with the equal length shafts mate
Good work Sir!
You dirty B*****d lolQuote:
Refitted into the housing and fitted my diff (teaser pic for Nova Ian lol):
Glad it's all sorted though, I knew it'd be all good. Bring on Cadwell!
Too early to tell Turbojolt, had a TRE off earlier and ruined the alignment so its toeing out like a bugger and ruining the handling!
Look at the sticker on my diff Ian, go on look at it lol
Hell yeah Cadwell on the 30th, I'm ready! Although I may be taking it to Santa Pod on the 20th so I hope I don't break anything lol
I wish my bay was that clean :/
Good idea for the diff plate
awesome work, its all easy peasey now eh.
Looking good dude.
rescuing TRE threads since 1982 lol
dont take it to pod! it will break something!
Good work Iain.
Some goodies through the post today, 9" 250lb 1.9" ID Faulkner springs, to replace my 200lb ones. And some 6mm wheel spacers to help my track tyres clear the arches after the bad scrubbing that has occurred. Fitting these springs instead of my existing Gaz ones has saved 0.7kg too amazingly!
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/607.JPG
Tried the spacers on for size with my current rims, even with an ET46 6" wheel and 6mm spacer I can fit my entire hand up the arch and wheel at running height lollol
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/608.JPG
Ordered another 2 spacers so I can run them all round without changing the front/rear track separately, and some ARB bushes to try that out too.
Are they proper fit spacers?
Not proper proper, couldn't find any that sit centrally and 4x100 that are 5mm or there abouts, they all seem to be 15mm+.
Just taken it for a proper blast, equal length shafts are the future! I can let go of the steering wheel and accelerate up to the limiter in 2nd without it torque steering!
250lb rear springs are fantastic too, well chuffed.
My god your home and written an essay on the car already, I think you need to lay off the Monster!! lol
Good work Iain, good to see the car moving forward development wise. I bet your itching to get to Cadwell now!
www.venommotorsport.com do vaux specific spacers in various sizes. Never been a fan of the universal ones as they always seem to cause vibration.
You could have some spigot rings made up for the spacers.
Have been sizing up spigots actually, my digital calipers have broke but the analogue ones say 70mm, and I see there's plenty of 56.6 to 70.1 spigot rings available, just need to enquire about their thickness.
I've just fitted my second two and lined them up by eye/feel centrally, been out on a drive and not noticed any feelable vibration all through the speeds to the posted speed limit. :)
