We need more pics
absolutly stunning project, that is one clean shell and i cant wait to see it in jamiaca yellow and see what wheels you decide to choose.
the boot popper handle is just genius, and so is the brake lines nailed on the wall Lol.
how much was that tool from halfords which you used to take the paint off the boot?
Im really looking forward to seeing this car completed. The attention to detail has been briliant!
Yeah I was just saying to Dougie, I think this is going to be possibly my fave Nova in '08 :) I know there are going to be a lot of nice ones around, but I've got super good feelings about this one.G ood luck sir ;)
It was from B&Q and was less than a tenner.Quote:

top man mr shaun!!
Alright there, how's the painting going mate? also i no it might be a bit late after you've done all that work on the 1L engine, but what i was gonna say is that i've got a spare 1.4 that you could have had, pm me if your interested, it's got all the ancillaries and gbox etc etc.
Not a huge amount has happened, went down this morning to see the car and take a few pics.
The car now takes pride of place within the paint booth as the TR7 that was in front of it in the queue is almost finished.

My GTE front seats are now at the upholsterers to get re-trimmed in the grey tweed to match the back seats. The headrest holes are being covered over as I'm ditching the headrests. The seats should be ready by the end of January.
So it won't have front headrests?
Nope.:thumb:Quote:

How long will it be in the paint shop Shaun?
He's got a 1980 Porsche 911 booked in for the back end of January, so I'm hoping it'll be done before then. He anticipates having the engine bay done within the next few days. I'll try and pop down for pics as much as I can without being a nuisance.
looks good seeing it in the booth mate, hope it gets done soon.
iain
Looks good mate!
Good to see some progress mate, will be mint as when its finished, were you interested in the 1.4 mate? or you just gonna stick with the 1L? just out of interest where are you getting this painted?

So will be re-locating the head unit to the glove box, so a little trimming in MDF is required.
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i2...STA60010-3.jpg
Have cut the back off the glove box for access.
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i2...STA60009-2.jpg
Still have a little space for gloves on the left of the head unit.

Just have to take apart and cover in accoustic felt and that's another job done.
Forgot to mention, can't wait to put this back together so I can use my Christmas presents.
The wife got me these:

I'm well chuffed.
Nice, like the stealthy head unit lol
looks like someone had a better xmas than me! I just got the usual clothes lol
i really like the idea of the head unit in the glove box mate, very cleaver.

Doing the same with my sport.
Did it on my spider, but you'll need to add a fan to keep it cool if your tightly enclosing it
^ and especially with an alpine, I found they run much hotter than anything else..
Always nice to get some new tools, rachet spanners are probably the most useful tool(s) i've bought so far.
Dismantled ready for re-trim.
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i2...STA60014-2.jpg
Apologies for not taking photos along the way, hands were a bit gummed up.
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i2...l/STA60015.jpg
Was a tight fit getting this all back in there with the additional thickness of the carpet. Pretty chuffed with the results.
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i2...l/STA60016.jpg
As I was in a trimming mood, the parcel shelf thingy got the same treatment.

The 6x9's with be mounted below and not protrude at all.
Thats amazing! Think i might have to put mine in the glovebox seeing as my decent alpine got nicked! But its whether i have the balls to ruin my gsi glovebox, perhaps you should start making some for people on here ill pay good money!:)
"Finally" I hear you cry, there's paint on the car.
Ok, it's just the engine bay and boot lip, but it's a start. Hopefully have the shell painted this time next week.

The valance has just had a guide coat to highlight any imperfections, but all is ok so it'll get flatted and painted again.
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i2...STA60018-1.jpg
The inside isn't being painted as apart from the doors, there will be not metal exposed.
I am chuffed as a chuffed thing.
Shaun.
