i think there wil be some real progress soon as i am going to start rubbing it down and cataloying lots of bits. lots of long, boring work to be done but hopefully will be well worth it.

Looking flat but mint :)
got my digi dash fited tonight. so chuffed. done all the wiring on my own (think its pretty impressive for a 14 year old)lol
just need to wire my rev counter and put my transducer for the speedo in and everything will be grand! really chuffed with this.:D
http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...t/DSC00618.jpg
also rubbed down more of the car, think the arches are minted for the age of the car. nearly ready for re-spray aswell.

Minted mate -- Can't wait to see it done!
what do you guys think of my nova? good and bad opinions please. let me know what you think!
need to get shut of them wheels dude!
well, been very busy lately. cant really show how busy i have been but spent 3 nights rubbing down and smoothing bits of my nova. thats her ready to be sprayed except the rear bumper and a dent on the bonnet.

should see some good progress soon as i have found out that the passenger door is not so handy. the bottom of it if falling apart when you bang the door, so i chipped away the tin worm and tried to smooth it off and was going to fill it but it will end up falling out, or rust coming back and give me bother in 2 years time. I am going to weld a new door skin on or make one and smooth it off before the car gets re-spray.
i have just found the nova that i want mine to look like but maybe more tidy, shiny and lower.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/vauxhall-nova-...QQcmdZViewItem
thats what i am aiming at!:D
possibly get some speedlines when i am 17...
looks like a gd job, u thought about smoothin the boot? and those wheels, sell them, burry them just do sumit other than put them on ur car
Thats the look to go for Greg, can't wait to see this in person :)
yes, i like that gsi quite a bit..
yes i have thought about smoothing the boot, door locks..but i want it to be pretty standard.
and for the wheels, they are staying on until i am aged to drive and hopefully by then i will have some speedlines.
got a few more pics, got everything ready for re-spray now except the spoiler and the skirts. i am painting the skirts grey to match the door handles and grab handle on the tailgate, but i need to know a colour thats nearly identical the original grey...? please help?
anthracite or rover hurricane grey i have been hearing but could do with some more opinions.
http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...t/DSC00643.jpg
http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...t/DSC00642.jpg
Hurricane Grey is supposed to be a good match
spray the door handles and grab handle too, then there deffo all the same
this is great stuff! i always thought the only people that would end up still likeing nova's would be old people lol, but instead there seems to be a new generation of nova owners! :) :):thumb:
well its al starting to come together. i primed one side of the car tonight to see what the spray gun etc was going to be like. and it was very good. gave it a quick rub down and its very tidy and smooth ready for the black paint.
pics will be coming soon....
got a few pics of the car now. should get the car all primed this weekend/early next week. then it shouldnt be long to get the beast painted..

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...t/DSC00654.jpg

Greg
Minted! :)
well.. hopefully getting started on painting this weekend. going to prime it then spend time getting rid of the bad bits and more cataloying if need be etc..
my list to finish the nova is (getting shorter)..
re-spray,
fit gsi servo/mc,
wheel bearings,
fit track rod ends (dad got gas to heat them up)
need a new digi dash,
gsi steering wheel fitted,
K&N /ITG/PX filter,
strut brace,
gsi decals,
freshen up the rear beam and hubs etc,
gsi interior and thats it really.
will try and get pics of progress over the weekend..
Greg
Good progress mate -- Give me a shout for when I can come and see it :)
will do.. give me a few months.
this has been kind of left sitting in the corner of my garage lately due to a new project. its now sitting with no head on the engine, coil, dizzy etc as i stole it for my other nova that has twin 40's..
but on the good side, i am putting a 1200 head on her, 4 branch, SR inlet manifold and twin choke carb which should make it quicker without hurting the insurance too much.
not good! put my new headgasket on today, put my 1200 head with twin choke SR carb and cant get her to go.. not happy, but will have a good look at it tommorow and put some jump leads onto her as i have been turning it over that much its went flat..
Greg
well had no updates on this nova for a while due to another nove project.. anyway had some spare grey undercoat so i sprayed half the nova today and then ran out of undercoat..
after my holiday (away for a week) i should crack on with this and hopefully get some nice shiny paint and bits for it.. hope to have it finished this summer.
http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...t/DSC00789.jpg
Greg
not done much to this nova apart from rob bits off it for my latest project..
i took the fuel pump, dizzy, dizzy cap, leads and coil off it for my other nova so i eventually built it back together the other day and got her going (not very well but she does go)!
i hope to get a move on with it once i get payed and get my civic out of the garage. plans are to get it sprayed, re-build engine/new sr engine, full ashley system, gsi/sri interior, digi dash, get some gas struts and a set of 80mm/90mm springs.
i might even just chop a set of old springs i have lying around for a laugh!lol
will get some progress pics and the current state she is in today hopefully.
Greg
now that my other nova project is finished i have started working on this again. today i put a fuel pump, petrol, new plugs and leads and a battery and she fired up. it went really well too! so i was chuffed.
i was about an hour ago and i had been looking at really clean nova engine bays so i decided to take my engine back out and de-grease the engine and i am going to paint it again and get a kent cam and samco's etc this time.. i want to make it look very tidy.
pics will be on later.
once i get payed i will get it sprayed, get the engine re-built and painted, strut brace, K&N and some samcos or similar.
Greg
sounds ace greg.. kepp us all posted :thumb:
right i think its time for an update.
i have stripped the suspension/brakes etc off it and going to paint it all up to make it look better. i could also do with getting some better struts too.
i am really struggling with replacing the track rod ends though. think i will need to get my dad to come and do them with some gas/heat.
also going to try and get some paint for the car this week or atleast get it all primed, plastic primed and ready to be sprayed.
i will also be looking for some stuff in the next few weeks.
digi dash,
red bumper tape,
GSi decals,
GSI/SRI interior,
K&N filter,
janspeed/ashley full exhaust system,
koni or spax suspension
and i have to fit my
side skirts,
gsi spoiler,
strut brace,
gsi grille badge,
lights etc after re-spray,
gsi steering wheel,
gsi 3 spoke alloys
and give the inside one hell of a good clean!!
that should see the car about finished and ready for the road.
i will get some pics later and hopefully later in the week on some progress.
Greg
Ideal mate get this one finished so I can have a look at it as well :)
right, got in the notion for working on it tonight so here is the pics.. done all this in a few hours..

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...DSCF0051-2.jpg
more pics tomorrow night when i get the bay cleaned up and get painting and adding things.
dont know what engine will be going in it.. either a 1.2/1.3 or a 1.4 carb..not sure yet.
Greg
wow that place really that dark to work in???
make sure you manage to get yourself an SR lump in there - youll be more satisfied in the long run.
yep it was dark when i took the pics outside and i only had 2 lights on in the garage.. was heading out so didnt have them all on (one light switch is not at the door if you get what i mean)..
i think it will be a sr engine that goes in it.. might have to re-build my 1300 sr and shove that in.
i will keep you posted though.
Greg
looks good greg.. doesnt taking the engine in and out waste loads of time?
no not really as its not running anyway and i want to de-grease the new head and re-paint the engine and box again or just try and get it original but really clean.. also going to put new bolts and jubilee clips on etc and a few engine mods.
only take 2 hours to get an engine out on my own with a few tools. ha ha.
Looking good mate, should be nice all painted up and looking road worthy :)
Keep it up mate, if you ever need an extra pair of hands give me a shout
well last night i started by washing the engine bay, cleaned my washer bottle and expansion tank.. always help if they are clean. i also de-greased and cleaned up my new gsi servo and master cyliner (thanks rallyman) think thats his name on her anyway.lol
i also de-greased my drive shafts so they are ready to be panted and the coil has been rubbed down and i got rid of the horrible red paint and putting it black again.
i also took the choke cable out and extra cables and wires i didnt need. i am also going to try and hide the wiring loom as much as i possible can.
going to start on the track rod ends and painting the steering arms and bottom arms etc etc to freshen them up a little, might also start on the engine by stripping it.
no pics as yet.
Greg
