I wish my Nova was this wide lol
im loving the arches. awsome bit of kit.
That front end looks awesome!
Yes, it looks like a stealth fighter! I can imagine the policeman have no idea what's wrong with the detector lol

Hahaha, yes, next step: solid rocket boosters and air tight nova. Then i'm on my way to the moon lol

Love your tie bar/lower arm set up. That's a nice set up.
Yes, the suspension set up looks very strong.
Just be aware with that level of grip, you might start bending lower / steering arms. If the steering wheel doesn't come back to where it should be driving in a straight line, after some full on hard cornering, you'll know what's happened.
Teaser and NEW personal favorite picture :d

2 wheels is all that's needed lol ...full story coming soon!
Now that giving it some in the corner...
All you need do now is drop the back to avoid that.
Would you consider slimmer at the rear?
Trackday in Anneau du Rhin
Start was thursday evening at a gas station. First thing to do: fill every car
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps1c199af5.jpg
After that me and my mate went to the "Anneau du Rhin" Racetrack in France
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...pse5c70325.jpg
Because the trackday was on the following day we camped the night outside the track :)
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...psd54c7ca9.jpg
Next morning i started the day by setting up the gopros
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps756af473.jpg
and adjusting the front view
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps11ca3f17.jpg
After the gates opened we had to unload our cars. Fortunately we found a nice shady place because the weather forecast announced up to 36°.
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...psdf4d1d12.jpg
my mates and my car side by side. we waited a long time got take this picture! :thumb:
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps0ba6eb49.jpg
how come you run front tow at 0? have you tried tow out? we run vxr race cars at 2 total tow out so the leading wheel help pull the car round the corner. would highly recommend plated diff, makes the quaife diff feel crap after having a plated diff. when you watch the car in a video from behind it looks like its 4wd where the diff drags the car round the corner and the grip levels are unreal. we are running 300hp and 340lb torque people say i bet that wheels spins out of the corners with that diff it just grips, and the slicks help as well lol
After a short briefing and two warm-up laps we could get cracking.
It was open pitlane, we were allowed to drive as much as we wanted from 9:00-12:00 and 13:00-17:00
1. Drive
I began slowly, get the tires to temperature. At least i knew the track from playing computer games lol so i knew how to get along.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyE88V9W5wQ
2. Drive
Slowly, the advantages and disadvantages of the Corsa showed. Advantage is certainly the grip in the corners, the chassis and the steering geometry let the car drive like on rails through the tight curves. On the straights performance could be better
At about 2min50 I get some dust thrown in my face for tailgating lol
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHRwXZMHKTIhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHRwXZMHKTI
3. Drive
Short ride with ugly end. Before lunch we decided to do a few laps.
Unfortunately my mates luck ran out and a rose joint broke during braking on a curve and the wheel pushed itself into the wheelarch :( i was shocked as you can hear at the end of the video...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9aQdig_fEQ
Our lunch brake included load the broken car on the trailer...
...so afternoon, i had to get alone on the track.
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps0944ac27.jpg
Unfortunately, as so often with me on the fourth run i forgot to turn on the camera :tard:
5. Drive
At the last trip I dared myself to the limit ... although I must admit that the limit of my strenght is the first thats reached lol
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Zt7Atq50r8
and similar to the vid above here's me driving
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQjgWqVjSNc
I totally forgot the photos lol

some 3 wheel action wasn't enough
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps9a054024.jpg
serious driving required 2 wheel action :d

Great pics, awesome nova...it looks mean as fcuk.
Awesome mate, so what's your future plans? Pick trackdays with less top end straights, or more power and torque in the form of another engine or more mods?
Thanks a lot!
I plan to upgrade the engine. I'm thinking about new forged pistons, steel rods, cams and a new TB setup from jenvey or sbdev. Would be nice to have around 170-180bhp.
Grip wise i think i'm competitive enough, maybe some aerodynamics at the back to gain a more stable rear end.
For this year im very happy with the results and next Trackday is coming soon :d
Today i removed the front lights because on the track you don't need headlights and they're simply to heavy.
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps6d90e20a.jpg
Then i wrapped them in cling film...
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...psc942f33b.jpg
...and made a mould with gypsum bandages reinforced with aluminium tubes.
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...psb0adcaca.jpg
Final mould for right headlight
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps08805f39.jpg
to prevent them from braking i protected them with a layer of fiberglass
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps9e41ce40.jpg
next to do: make fiberglass replacements for the headlights
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps70e9f18d.jpg
Nice weight saving idea.
Then you can give more fresh air to the engine :)
http://www.motorburg.com/wp-content/...r_02_small.jpg
I like the progression with learning to keep the revs up higher at mid / corner entry throughout the videos / day.
Bet those slicks feel heavy having to shuffle the wheel at over a g. Would you consider faster steering?
I'll do my my best not just to improve my car but me as well :)
The slicks are a real pain in combination with the quick rack and steering geometry, after 20 mintues my arms started to hurt lol i definitely have to get myself a Corsa C electric power steering!
Shedding weight!
First i used my freshly made mould to create a fiberglass Headlight replacment
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...psbdbec70e.jpg
released from mould
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...pse6b021ab.jpg
after that some body filler and sanding.
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps4b7b44b5.jpg
Original headlight weights 1172 gramms
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...psbe90d976.jpg
and my fiberlass replacement with applied color and clear coat: 114 gramms
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...pse8f416a8.jpg
That's 2 Kilos removed from the front :thumb:
my fiberglass items can be mounted to the original pickup points.
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps402c771e.jpg
As a contrast I'm quite pleased with the white "headlights" :)
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps24d6dae8.jpg
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps3d8674b3.jpg
...now searching for other parts that can be replaced with fiberglass lol
That's a really professional look you've achieved there; can you not get some dark mesh for the bumper & maybe a sun strip?
So you are already on a Kwik rack; if you want faster steering you could invert the steering arms and / or increase the castor.
This is just the meanest looking car ever, absolutely love it
The thing that impresses me most is the speed and rate you have developed and done all this progress..
Thanks for de nice Feedback :thumb:
What do you mean by "invert the steering arms" ?Quote:
if you want faster steering you could invert the steering arms and / or increase the castor.
Mhhh.. if your going to increase castor your doing the opposite, if increased it's even harder to turn the steering wheel because the inner front wheel tends to lift the car which creates a force which helps straighten the steering wheel :O
Next to do:
lower the drivers seat
First thing, remove the seat
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...pse364f67a.jpg
original seat mountings removed with grinder. little more weight saving lol
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...psfeb3ce03.jpg
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...psa6a1c6bf.jpg
To get the seat fixed i used two steel square tubes. At both ends i welded plates which then can be welded to the chassis.
To adjust the whole seat fixing assembly i used two bubble levels
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps524a3b17.jpg
Welded and added fixing points
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps3c80e9d3.jpg
the seat now can be fixed 2-3cm more to the middle of the car.
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps8732069e.jpg
I currently also enjoy the benefits of modern technology in order to optimize my vehicle Aerodynamicly :)
A 3D model of the Corsa which i made some years ago now also shows a practical use.
Thus, for example, different rear diffuser designs can be tested easily in a virtual wind tunnel.
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...psf8a6a1d4.jpg
The program used for this purpose is called "Project Falcon" and is a freely available tool from Autodesk. This can also import self created 3D models and test them at different speeds and wind directions, so i dont have to ring up our local Formula 1 team to use their wind tunnel lol
Here nice to see how the diffuser allows the air to flow at the back of the car.
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...pscd0f8de6.jpg
Maybe there's a new developed diffuser in the near future!
This is p@rn!!! Love it!!
awesome the front end looks so mean
Professional design! :thumb:
The Nova is not the best choice for aerodynamic features, but maybe you can using low-speed profiles for better grip in corners. Check an older and/or trainer sailplane wing profile!
yes i know its not the best... the virtual wind tunnel proves that lol so i'm going to try to improve the car as much as possible with some aerodynamic tweaks. Would be nice to gain a little more grip by using a flat floor and a well designed diffuser. At least it will be better than a rear bumper that acts like a parachute ;)
Nice picture of last trackday provided by facebook :d
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps7c77c8eb.jpg
If you machine the steering knuckles so the track rod ends bolt up from under rather than over (on a lowered nova) it increases turn in.
As does increasing castor.
Take a look at Page 14 ;)Quote:

Tell that to my +5° Castor lolQuote:
As does increasing castor.
Maybe get some exercise helps. jajajajaj, what tyre size you use??
hey! :wtf: ...some of you will probably not even drive around a carpark without whining about how much strength it requires lol:p
Tyres are: Dunlop 200/580 R15 Slicks medium compound
