IMO Stealths look good on GSi's as the more modern look took the smooth spoke style..Quote:

We'll wait and see :)
Picked up an early tailgate for it tonight as well :)
Stealths on a red mk1 hmmm, but adding the brown trim? Guessing my colour blindness is making me think it will look a bit yack hopefully you will proove us wrong
Mk1 SR's came in red with the brown interior so I'm not re-inventing the wheel in any way...
Gen Vauxhall rims but not far off design of Stealths, looked OK on my Sport.

Maybe not inkeeping with the Sport theme but still look good.
Be nice to get the lower vinyls & plough on it aswell.
Still playing about with ideas atm as well - If I could get a decent snowplough at a decent price I'd fire it on as well
Don't fancy doing the grey SR vinyls though
You got it, everyone takes the piss with the price on them..:roll:Quote:

Got a 1400 8v SR engine with an uprated cam and F13 CR box in my garage that needs a wee service - Might use it until I can afford to get the 1300 Sport engine rebuilt
Well there not that rare, els people wouldn't sell them, it's same as most things, if people start wanting something "demand" then some idiots start charging to earth for things, common has some of these 1.2 nova's that are advertised worth £3500? nope...
Insanity if you ask me lol Unless it's modified to a nice standard with some nice parts or a tidy tidy Sport :)
i bought a mint nova saloon in 1998 for £25 with no tax or m.o.t lol how times have changed.
Use the 1400 bottom end with the 1300 head and carbs, should be good enough.Quote:

I'll run the 1400 8v with the 40's, 4branch, cam etc
Got my panels sorted out for this and there going into college with me on Monday so I can start to prep them
Changing the doors over as the passenger side is full of wee dents and the drivers door has a wee pin hole at the bottom corner - Swapping them for 2 clean doors and going to delock them and fit remote central locking
Swapping the boot over as it has a dent on it right down the middle as if the car has reversed into a lamp-post or something and I'm putting on an early Mk1 tailgate and it's going to be smoothed as well
Started the task of undersealing as well, cleaned up any bits that looked bad (not many) and made a start with that - Need to spend a lot more time on it which will be next week and I'll just crack on with it
Had to move it as well as my mate who I share the lockup with is getting a Nova GTE track prepared car - Meant to have 140 BHP 1600 8v, Leda suspension etc
Here's a couple of quick shots of the Mk1:

Vaughan
Seeing as you are changing the doors and boot lid and the engine is out would you not be best off painting the whole car white now ?
Nope - Not wanting to paint it white, if I'm going for a white Nova it's either a proper Sport or a GSi :)
+1 :thumb:Quote:

Think you might need a plough or similar to pull it off.
Might look a bit strange IMO
I think it will go together - Andy's is pretty similar and his pulls off grey Speedlines
We all know alloy wheels are much much nicer in silver so I think it will work
I might look into a Snowplough for it as well just to make it look lower and meaner at the front
Have a look at Andy's XE and get back to me :)
Iv seen it chap, looks very nice.
Think he is putting gte bumpers on it now tho.
Which bumpers are you putting on it then ?
One piece grill / bumper ? Or later mk 1 stuff ?
One piece front bumper and just a normal Mk1 back bumper - Going to paint them either Hurricane Grey or Volvo Dark Grey and something else a wee bit different that I hope works out allright... :thumb:
Looks solid good find
Aye - English cars don't get the weathering our Scottish cars do lol
Volvo dark grey is the colour i sprayed my back bumper with, nice shade imo.Quote:

Good work Vaughan, you ever thought about using the upol mid grey colour that i've used on my gte bumpers, you can get an awesome finish with rattle cans too, thats all mine have been painted with!
dont think volvo dark grey is mettalic mate, very nice colour imo
I might have a look at that UPOL stuff mate - Probably do the bumpers with rattle cans anyway got my big garage that I can paint stuff like that in :)
Got another wee plan for the bumpers as well especially the front one :thumb: But that'll be revealed when the bumpers are done :)
nice cant wait to see.
says i must spread the rep first before giving to vaughanmc :(
It'll get there mate - Got the panels into the college today and hopefully shoot some primer either tomorrow or Wed then get the panels back home sometime next week as I want to let them dry/cure then get the bumpers and bonnet done so that's all the panel work done and the whole shell can be painted at once so it's all the same colour :)
good plan bud, get some pics
Will do I'll take some tomorrow - The early boot I'm using is in a wee bit of a mess, must be about 4 layers of paint on it lol Plus Hammerite on the back side
Hopefully a lot of attention to detail will sort that out also hoping to get the locks and wiper hole flushed off tomorrow as well :)
It'll be interesting to see what you've go planned for the bumpers then buddy!
Humm, with Andy doing his in upol gray, and you Vaughan doing yours in Volvo grew, I'm thinking is it worth getting my mk1 bumpers done while it's in the body shop?.?.?
Anyone got any pics of the Volvo gray, and any code info on both paints, just in case i need them for the sprayer.
Scott
I would get them painted mate, saves time bumper gelling them to keep them fresh looking
Got some pics of what I've been up to on this project - Only if my phone would work...
OK some bodyshop/College pictures of what's been happening to the Mk1 - Early bootlid all sanded down. Down through black Hammerite, green, red then the original China Blue colour
Got a few wee dents over it and some pinholes of rot along the bottom but we're going to lead fill them so it's good metal going back in and not cataloy - Going to be plugging the lock, wiper and washer holes with lead as well:
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...a/DSC00676.jpg
Some filler work but not finished yet:
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...a/DSC00685.jpg
Drivers door sanded down to bare metal front and back ready for lead filling to delock them:
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...a/DSC00677.jpg
Inside the door:

GSi spoiler almost ready for primer:
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...a/DSC00679.jpg
Got the surface area on the door tinned ready for the lead loading:
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...a/DSC00680.jpg
Blanking piece tinned as well:
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...a/DSC00681.jpg
Filled up:
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...a/DSC00682.jpg
Filed down to shape:
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...a/DSC00683.jpg
Smoothed up with fine paper:
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...a/DSC00684.jpg
Proper way to delock doors - Going to use a wee bit of stopper tomorrow to fill it a wee bit and crack on with the passenger door then hopefully in the afternoon we'll shoot some primer :)
Cheers, Vaughan
all looks good mate,
how come you are putting a gsi spoiler one the mk 1 ??
got a mk 1 gte spoiler if you need one.
Edd.
Quite like the look of the GSi spoiler on the early boot on a Mk1 :)
Iain's Sport, Karl Rowntree's Nova
Keith's and Nick Jackson's old Nova have the early boot with GSi spoiler as well
Got a wrap around here as well but GSi will be smarter
Do you not need to weld in the blanking plates if you're lead filling?
