Went here, glad I removed it as it was rusting behind the bracket:

Grindered, wire wheeled back shiny, etch primer, high build primer and a few coats of colour:

While the carbs were off I thought it would be silly not to give them a clean. I think the jets need to go up a size too but random photos of bits first:

empty bottles of savanna dry cider put away first i see ;)
aye no point taking pics of empty bottles.....! you left fosters as well - but that will still be there next time you make an appearance, i dont drink it:thumb:
After having to wait for the postie the carbs are back together - new fuel resistant hose, carb bowl, trumpet and cap bolts all replaced with stainless cap heads and a good clean:

Bit of progress on the head rebuild, had new guides so had to ream them:

http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...a/DSC01234.jpg
And cut the seats (once again thanks to tom for the tooling and tutorials!):

I seem to be going backwards with it now rather than forwards - every time i go to the garage I make more jobs.....
Anyway my megajolt hard rev limiter turned up so soldered up and installed that:

Top work Al
Cheers dude, although I have to stop myself now I think - what started as simply rewiring my megajolt has turned into a full, dash out, strip down and rewire/hide wiring mission.....Quote:

Being as lionel hurt my feelings by highlighting my lack of camera - I had to go and buy one.......
Spent an hour on the wiring last night, starting to put things back - before:

After:

For anyone that is interested I've removed the radio, surplus (ie options I didn't have) and now not needed (rear wash/wipe, switch lighting etc) wiring.
Also put in my fusebox for the fuel pump and mj, earths for mj, tps and edis. Finally ran my ignition battery cable, fuel pump live and washer pump down the centre of the car - need to add to this the extended cable for the alternator/starter.
looking good matey :thumb:
Im thinking about cutting the dash down a bit before putting it back in - I need to keep the top for the heater vents and to look reasonably standard from outside. Pondering removing the black area - and then painting the rest satin black:
http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1.../IMGP0031A.jpg
Well i chopped it anyway - and mounted the fusebox etc up, I think it looks ok and will definately make accessing fuses easier than when it was rattling about behind the dash like it used to:
http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...a/IMGP0045.jpg
Or does it just look ****e?lol
Doesnt look too bad, are you putting a glovebox back in ?
No but i might panel it in with thin plastic sheet - same on the drivers side - not sure yetQuote:

After a mooch round looms (local scrappy) with lionel on the wkend I picked up a zx wiper mechanism to fit - mistakenly thinking that it would save some weight (it doesn't btw, so don't bother if thats your thing) - but essentially all it does is tidy up the bay a bit more and lose the motor from the firewall.
Anyway, cleaned up mechanism:

Mounted:

I found that just the one bolt through the scuttle gutter let the wiper flex a lot, so I also put one through the top of the scuttle with a spacer. Both the tabs on the wiper mech needed bending to allow the spindle to sit at a decent angle to the screen.
I tested it with the nova wiper arm but will be using the zx one as it sweeps better, just need to trim the length down a bit and rebend the tab on the end.
Did you cut off the unused bolt hole so it clears the bulkhead better too?
Ok ok I forgot some bits - yeah i did have to trim that tab off dude altho i think you could probably get away without it depending how hard you wanted to wedge it into the bulkhead - i also put a 2mm spacer in between the scuttle gutter bolt.Quote:

Also finished off putting the front end wiring out through the wing - it looks a bit pikey but i'm fairly sure the wiring wont get damp!
http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...a/IMGP0070.jpg
Tested my front end wiring and it all works so it can go back together - I thought being as it's in bits a rub down and frsh coat of waxoyl wont hurt as it seems to have done a pretty good job over the last 3yrs:

Got a few little jobs done over the weekend (altho still havent finished the head as waiting on a reamer) - done a rear wheel bearing, waxoyled up the rear as well, swapped wheels round front to back, drilled through for my battery cable and megajolt wiring and got my wiper arm modified and mounted:

Al managed to knock one of the mounting bolts off off his solid engine mount, so to fix it I had to drill a hole in it to get the old one out and then weld a new bolt in it's place.
http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w.../alengmnt2.jpg
I decided to replace the other bolt as well, and drill a few more holes..

Draper came over to weld his car, on the hottest day of the year!

Hope you like the mount Al, it's in keeping with your weight loss programmelol
Cheers again mate - it's not really weight loss tho unless u weigh it before and after. So i'm claiming -20kg for that little lot.....
400kg nova here I come lol
I cleaned up the old gasket etc off my bike carb manifold last nite and it needs repainting - is it wrong to think about polishing it and the carb trumpets?
You call me a sothern shandy drinking softy...
Sort it out, and polish them up :p
