hello mate whats the chris astley suff like im looking to fit an c20xe into my nova next year ive priced some of the stuff up but before i start spending just thought id ask cheers also your projects coming on sound im enjoying watching it all come together :thumb: keep up the good work mate
imo the plating kit does not fit very well, the mounts needed some work to get the bolts supplied to fit. the quality is good though apart from that
Solid mounts always seam to be a bitch to fit, put the engine in twist or to far forward! but if your prepared for this then you don't mind, and it's worth it in the end, as us that use them know.Quote:

I had to make a spacer to lower my mount on the old one, as i didn't want to move/re weld the original mounting point.

next will do the lower arms :D and engine bay is still not painted
you might find that wen you go to bolt up the rear mount you don't have access to one of te bolts. I welded my plate the same as you and hd to file it out a little -
i dont know what you mean i have bolted the mount o the bidy already all i have to do is oput the bolt through the mount isnt going to be a problem as we did the same on my the silver nova
Loving the two cars in this thread confused me a little at first but very inspiring keep up the good work
yeah, depends on your method of bolting it on. Like you I bolt the rubber mount to the car then put the single bolt thru the mount. You should also tho be able to access both the bolts on the rubber mount with the bracket in place. Not a major biggy, just that I done the same and decided to file mineout a little to give me the flexibility.
How's today gone? I take it you're back at work now tho?
today was ok ish managed todo an hour or so , made some plates to strengthen the lower arms amd welded them in painted and refitted, back in work now so only pop to my mates unit after i ve finihsed work.
ordered some powerflex polybushes for the nova they should be here friday ready for the weekend.
on the weekend it will be tank in, fuel lines in, pump in hopefully if i can find a fitting for the inlet of my bosch 044 pump.
need to get the tie bars bought from chris, a clutch, maybe a lightened flywheel not 100% yet on that!
its all money money money , and i ve already blown my budget i originally set out for the build
You may have blown your budget but its goin to be a very nice nova.
Spending a bit extra will be worth the smile you will get looking and driving it. Knowing you've done it all yourself.
I can't wait to find my perfect project.
Good luck and i.m watching this thread
I was speaking to Kev last night, didnt realise until then that this was from around my area. Perfect shell to start a project, reminds me of my car that im putting a C20XE into at the moment. You've made good progress so far, looking forward to seeing it finish. Any updates?
not really still waiting for the body shop to paint the engine bay! body shops love dead lines, but not to big of an issue as i am waiting on my helix paddle clutch and lighten flywheel to come, along with my cometic headgasket and a few other little bits,
Shame your not closer fella... I could have solved that problem in a few hours. ;)Quote:

Manifold rocks :)
yeah is pretty sweet it will look a lot better when engine is fitted and in the car and the manifold is on with turbo etc etc
just wait till i get paid then clutch and flywheel can be order then engine can be bolted in
cheers for comments guys
Looks good dude, why didnt you remove the loom fromthe bay before painting?
removed it t the bulkhead and was taped up, no need to remove it really, it didint stop the paint going on evenly:)
Looking very nice indeed :thumb:
cheers
that manifold is sick!nice one
Looking very nice, the manifold looks very nicley made !! just a couple of questions, why didnt you strip the bay fully before you painted it ? i.e the rack and pipe stubs and tie bar etc.. also are you making the top part of the front panel removable as i see you have cut it out, it'll make putting the engine in alot easier.
i left the rack and tie bars on as i had to push it round to the bodyshop and without them on it would have been chaos.
as for the wiring i removed it up untill the bulk head whihc is fine, i only wanted the bay painted where i had welded and sealed up, nothiong got over spray on it or got painted blue so :thumb:
front panel is removable yes this was done to gain access to the turbo manifold alot easier and to aid fitting
