Arms aching dude? lol
Nick.
Looking great Mr Ben, just out of interest how is the roof painted - is the paint blended in to the pillars?
Niceee and shinyyy
Nick, my shoulders are killing!
Iain, it was back masked under the rail and then yes blended down the A and C pillars.
Ad, isn't bad...
So woke up this morning.. Big stretch and tweak muscle between my shoulders hurt like hell. Great.
But cracked on. Roof was ready for a flatting off and polishing up, my garage door works well to show a reflection..
Gun finish.

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...olishing12.jpg
Started flatting it off.. Really didn't help my shoulders.. Small bits of dust comming out.
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...olishing14.jpg
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...olishing19.jpg
Tested it with a buff but wasn't happy...
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...lishing114.jpg
Gave it a bit more sanding, then buffed.
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...lishing119.jpg
You can see from the lines in the door, almost all the orange peels gone.
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...lishing120.jpg
Spoiler done..
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...lishing125.jpg
All cleaned off, looks ok. I think.
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...gtheRoof26.jpg
Think that's flat..?
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...gtheRoof22.jpg
Isn't bad.

On the inside where the rust was, i've used a zink etch primer, then hammeright over the top. This should seal it in tight.
Then pushed it out side, opened the boot.. Spending 15mins feeding the cables thru from car too hatch. Then moved on to fitting the sunroof, wasn't to bad getting it out by my self but refitting it with my shoulders hurting it was a funking nightmare and i could have broken down in tears.
But got it in.. Frigging yay!

Tomoz i can spend the time getting the headlining (eek!) back in and clean the insides out as they are minging.
Top job!!!!!
The "out of the gun" finish is shiny enough for me! lol
I don't like orange peel. Had to be removed. Thank you too.
Same I had to scroll back up and actually look for this apparent orange peel lolQuote:

what grit wet and dry were you using for the sanding bo?
looks top draw that, get some deep heat on your shoulder. lol
Good skills there Benn, fair play to you cracking on with doing it whilst in pain too, looks far far better now and verily shiny, comparison pics show the difference in it too, did you flat it all by hand as the sanding marks suggest you did, if so then epic well done:thumb:
1200 grit then 1500 grit finishing paper.Quote:

Cheers dude, been doing the headlining to day so my shoulders funking kill now!Quote:

As this was all roof work and as its low its the main bit you see, i did everything with a block. As i wanted it super straight.. Or as straight as it could be.
It looks pretty good from where im sitting so hats off to you, ill be sure to come and have a proper nosey at some/one of the shows and ill introduce myself this time rather than just walking past thinking, hmm im sure thats Benn lol
 You sooo need to give me a shout next time your flat and polishing. 2000 then 3000 wet/dry ftw! No wonder your shoulders are killing! 12/15 will do the job fine but 2/3k will cut your time with the machine in half mate and almost eliminate any chances of flatting marks showing up in the future due to the grade being so fine. ;)Quote:

Bit of buffing isn't that bad..
I compound up with G3 then i use 3M ultrafina over the top to remove any marks/hazing left. I'm then gonna Glaze tomoz using this..
http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/chemic...i.php?cPath=66
Then get a few coats of Mirror glaze wax on.
So today was refit the headlining.. EEK! With my shoulders still hurting i cracked on.
Didn't make any pics tbf as it was very stress full. Found i've painted the wrong sun visor.. That was great.
But go there in the end.
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...n/IMG_9018.jpg
Gonna fit all the pillar trims tomoz, and the right side visor.
While it was out side and my dad helped me put the windows in it looked sooo minging i took a pic.. lol
