Im glad you like :)
Cracked on sorting the sump gasket too.
Everything came apart easily, its sooo nice working on a car that hardly gets used! lol Everything just undoes and isnt rusty lol
Got the sump off, oil change was definently due.

Pickup pipe off
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v8...w/Photo114.jpg
And was then greeted with this, oh noeeesss lol
How i had any oil pressure i dont know, there was literally 90% of the pickup filter blocked with silicone. It was 100% clear when i built the engine up,so no silicone will be going near the sump gasket this time round!
Loads of the s**t

Sump looking all clean after a quick wipe
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v8...w/Photo115.jpg
And the "refurbed" pickup pipe lol
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v8...w/Photo116.jpg
All ready to go back together now, just need some m6 washers for the bolts. Got a 8v gasket/baffle going on!!! :) :)
so you used black silicone to seal the sump, like it says you should and it all got into the engine..?!
a 2.0 8v old skool sump gasket this time..? - but they always leak a bit..
Yeah, i used silicone sealent on the baffle plate/gaskets... Obviously its squeezed on inside the sump, fell into the oil and then made its way into the pickup pipe filter.
Yeah using a 8v rubber gasket, not using any silicone
Good lad, looks just like mine was mate lol
All back together now, used no sealent at all!!! Hopefully it dont leak, it seems a much better seal than the 2 old cork gasket setup provided.
Leaving it for a few days before putting any oil in.
Now just need to work out wtf to do about the exhaust
Don't bother with one, sounded cool when we fired it up without.
Lol, that was class!
Started on 1st turn of the key, EVER
All's alive and well again.
Got it filled up with some 5/30 oil,a bit thin but should be ok. Not the best if a leak develops tho! lol lol
Had it running for about 20mins, and the bottom of the sump/engine is dry, lets hope it stays like that
Started up 1st go after been sat for about a month too. Good oil pressure, light straight out!
Ive refitted my old exhaust system for now, all being well im hoping have a run down to Shakespeare raceway this weekend..... :)
Going get some use out of it before the tax runs out, and then i'll probably break it ;)
Woo! I'll start looking at pics to see what I want off it. lol
Do.
TBH once the tax is ran out its going sit for 6months at least?
In that time i will get sick of seeing it sitting there, and just see it as money sitting on my parents drive....
You could always re-tax it you chump. Get on Messenger so I can annoy you about your silly decisions.
Theres no point re-taxing, i dont want to use it in ice/snow......
So are you getting shut of your nova then? Are you rolling roading still on the 10th?? I noticed your not on here as much so have you bought a metro or something lol
Don't leave your knowledge is needed :)
Dont break it you plum youve put faaaar too much blood sweat and tears into it to break it all, unless youre gonna build another one?
NBC- Is the RR day still open for booking?? I might make an appearence if i can still pay now, its a bit of a drive for me tho!!
And yeah im hardly on here anymore tbh, usually about 5-10mins a night. Just been way too busy recently with other things in life, basically sorting my flat, working, having a few nights out with a certain girl etc.
Spud, i'll see how it goes mate, no real plans to build another tbh.
Think i just need "get the nova-thing" back, but i have zero motivation to spend time on a 25 yr old vauxhall atm :(
This week is the 1st time ive even unlocked the nova since Combe a month ago lol
Ah dude, use it over the winter you'll still be smiling in the new year...
For the rolling road just send Riggy a tenner deposit and pay on the day. How far is it from you? Must be a good couple of hours I'd have thought.
Women are the route of all evil lol apart from Lynz lol
Spend time here more often, your a font of knowledge especially on the baby xe. Your wip is where I learnt most of my build from :)
very nice good job
FFS WHY OH WHY is everyone coming to play in my town this weekend and i cant do it!
My mate from work is taking his mk1 escort down, asked me if i was still going, forgot about it now
Christian, Dave, are coming up, now your coming down..
I promised the missus that we will do something as she's got this weekend off (first one in ages) so i have to do something with her, but now im just going to pissed off the hole time knowing you lot are down shaky 5mins from my door and i cant play! GRRR..
Its about 85mile, hour and 40mins from me.......Quote:

Posts per day is down to 11 now! Used to be 14+ at one point when i was unemployed lol
I just come on here now to update this thread, read any WIPs im interested in and have a quick look through the for sale forums, and do some moderating if it aint been done by one of the other mods :thumb:
Im glad my WIP thread proved helpful :)
And definently on for Shakespeare this Saturday, just need two new rubber mounts for the middle exhaust box :thumb:
Shame you cant make it Scott.
Is it pretty much same as Pod? Do you need a helmet?? Show Driving license???
I MAY be there in the Nova....
All you need is £10 to get in £20 for as many runs as you can do in a day 11-4.50 the strip open i think? And enough fuel to do them lol
Helmet for cars over 100mph across the line, or running under 11 seconds.
you need your driving license, photo card mainly, but take both in case.
They are very helpful and friendly up there.
WARNING though, it's got MEGA popular of late, and as there is an event on it WILL be busy, so get there early as possible if i were you.
Scott
Hmm, might be worth me taking a helmet then, just incase
i didn't the time before last (13.9's etc) as i didn't think i would need it, but was crossing the line at over 103mph i took one a few weeks back, i saw some nob laughing at me when i was sat in the que, he didn't laugh when on that very first run i did 13.5 at 105mph! lol
Might take one, might best run at pod was @ 99.4mph.....
Ad, if you break it i'll come up to Stokie-land a bitch slap you....!
You will need it then, as i guaranty you'll get into 100mph with at least 14.2's here, it's IMO a better track that gets better results, and it's used by APIRA/NSRA top fuel drags, so it's not some crappy track and don't count like some say.
Unless it's at pod it don't count! lol
Will take one then, just incase.
LOL @ Mazz lol
Got the old exhaust back on, just had a quick drive to make sure all is well.
All seemed good, managed get the exhaust fitting better too so it no longer taps the transmission tunnel!!
Parked the car back up after a 20mile drive and the entire sump is soaked in oil
Obviously not the sump gasket then. Thinking crank seal or oil cooler sandwich plate now.
Ffs really starting to lose patience with this car  :(
Just noticed it says on the Shakey site "Cars with Any fluid leaks will not be allowed onto the strip"
Looks like thats out the window then lollol
Take a rag, i just clean mine between each run! lolQuote:

Oh do they? When we did the speed and show day there there was no cleaning or anything..
If im sitting for any length of time with the engine running you will see oil dripping off the sump...
Might go scrappy tomorrow see if i can find a oil filter thread so i can bin the oil cooler... As thats 3-4 less seals for oil to leak from! lol lol
just a normal leaky redtop then lol
Benn it's allot more organized now, and they get quite allot of people there regular now, as it's such good value compared to pod.Quote:
