They look nice mate!
Liking the cards, never throught of riv/clinch nutting them on.
nice project, what is the lenght of the short oil filter and can they be bought anywhere online?
thanks
Not sure on length, it's a cm or two shorter than the standard one though.
Just pop in to your local Vauxhall dealer if you can and ask for a VOF28 filter, they're about £2 each on trade club. Imagine you could find one on eBay/order one from AutoVaux too.
See this thread which has lots of part numbers for shorter filters too: http://www.16vminiclub.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=17952
top notch work, good details iain.
Before you refit clean the marker pen off to! lol
Look nice mate, i should do something like that, as mine are screwed and Ive lost all screw caps lol
Scott
oooooh, like the carbon goodness! I used rubber nuts on mine
velcro tape is one of the best methods I've seen as it's a 2 min job and stops rattling too, all credit to admin Kev though lol
edit: Not to say the rivnuts aren't very smart btw, probably a bit more 'permanent' or finished too, just that velcro was also a good idea, didn't mean to sound negative at all lol
Good point Scott will clean that off tomorrow lol
No probs MK didn't take it negatively, suppose it makes sense to have them velcro'd on, would have saved me two evenings of measuring and drilling and tinkering, oh well. Some black bolts (about a fiver off eBay) and you won't see 'em hopefully.
Should be able to get black bolts from any fasteners supplier. Like I say the rivnuts are quite smart and very professional, it was just something of a lightbulb moment when I asked Kev what his door cards were held on with as they don't rattle like mine and he peeled a corner of one off to show me lol
Couple of sparkly clean pics from last weekend as I spent half a day cleaning it as it was so sunny:

One with my BMW, which Sky have just sorted me an awesome renewal price on so it'll be getting modified too, God I'm addicted to tinkering lol

Today's ponderings, should I fit sideskirts?
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/496.JPG
Should I fit these satin black mirror caps?
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/497.JPG
Or should I fit my uber tiny lightweight Racetech mirrors?

Life is full of difficult decisions lol
Race Tech mirrors i say yes to looks, no to visibility for road driving!
Skirts NO.
E34 :( Pine... ******* lol
Thinking similar to you Scott. No to skirts, was gonna try the mirrors and see how bad they are.
Yes MK999, check out how shiny and straight and undented it is.
No to skirts and small mirrors
Yes to black mirror covers
All imo tho :)
No skirts, I'd say keep the white mirrors so you can see what behind you.
Carbon goodies :( i need another nova lol
Looks good, i like the racetech mirrors but its not worth taking me off my bike for losing your rear view :p
Cheers all. Got the black mirror caps on for the time being, might trial fit a Racetech mirror cos the convex glass means the horizontal view isn't too bad, just not much height
Skirts have gone back in storage for me to trial fit in another 6 months lol
Shoddy puns to cover up the BMW jealousy.
Took the Nova to Donington again yesterday, full day open pit with BookATrack. Car performed well as ever and was dry enough to use the semi slicks, winner.
Wearing it's track shoes:

Was getting low oil pressure issues again, so I tried my best to help cool it down, spent the afternoon looking like this!

My favourite picture of my car so far and it's not even me driving it, gutted lol
And also lowered my daily, brap brap

Looks great out there. Video fail tho!
Looks well out on track
The dark rims look nicer than the silver imo!
Does look a little more hardcore with the black rims but I just did it for ease of maintenance. First time they've been on with the black bumpers too so its all tied in nicely now.
They do look better imo.
Red rim tape??
Looking good Iain ,how did you get on with the tyres,i hope you spanked the clio,s i have still got the rest here mate i will send them up with Andy next time he comes up
Meh not fussed on rim tape Adam, esp on the track rims!
Jez tyres were good, not wearing very quick at all that's an evening session and full day on this set and they don't look much different! Might have hardened slightly I guess, could try some softener? But they still offer loads more grip than the road tyres! Nice one, I'm in no rush for 'em.
Wheels are painted and requiring tyres. Kit is the cheapest springs I could find, ProSport ones at about £65 lol Sits lovely though
awesome update - im a fan of the novas' trackday look also.
Good to see your using it mate.
Nice track pics lemonel!
Looks mint on track, still think it needs a GSI bumper though lol
What spring rates are you running btw?
Meh not fussed on the GSI fronts, looks OK now it has the splitter IMO.
Spring rates... 325lb front 200lb rear.
