John, no mate, could try that but think it might make the glue stuff mega soft so it leaves most of it on the floor which will be a bit messy to try and clean up? Might be worth a go though.
Rich, yes it did mate. Its a "GL", super hi-spec deluxe model ftw lol lol
All brackets are staying put.
Joe, cheers. 50/50 for Trax atm, its not really a show that interests me
Nooooooooooooooo, please dont do it black, sorry but it will look wa*k.
Get some prople mixed paint thats mixed/match to the car.
Any paint surplyer will be able to match it.
(they can match 62 vw camper green they can yours..)
No carpets? Good man! You always used to moan at me for having no deadening/carpets though!
Defo put something down in the drivers footwell as I used to wear through the paint to bare metal lol
Also you may need the dash/matrix out to get access to do the internal shifter mod?
Yes Iain, but thats when i was driving a nova daily..... lol
I want to get some track days/1-4 miles done, and want to lose car weight to try and regain the weight loss that the cage will add.....
Im torn between doing a cavvy setup, or R/J'ing the standard linkage.....
Oh and i need to txt you too lol
Benn, thanks for your input. If i can find some paint i will do it car coloured, might just use Paints 4 U again, as that can matched spot on, but i might need a few cans to do the whole floor.... :)
Text me then! lol
For weight saving, you getting rid of all those unused brackets in the back then?

Balls to that Iain, they can stay....
Txt sent
I like this idea, may steal it myself lol As far as weight saving goes I think it's one of those things that if you're gonna do it you need to be totally ruthless, as all the grams start to add up!Quote:

As for paint idea, i have done mine in stone chip in the front wells, as said so much easier to re-do less hassle/expense, sod it, it's not a show and shine your floor is it?? lol
Yeah, was quite impressed how much better than the nova setup your cav type setup was Scott, just felt miles more precise....
Will probably end up doing it :)
And yep that was kind of my point, the car aint really a proper show car and never will be, and black still looks tidy imo.....
We'll see
matt black floor pan is that?
The foot wells, and basically the flat section of the floor, black/stone chipped yeah...
Thats what i was thinking anyways....
bah go nut, try something crazy, erm backwords 911 shifter lolQuote:

Yes Benn's skate board grip tape idea is a dam good, one' I'm going to look into it.
Scott
Got the sound deadening ripped up after work today. Its left the glue crap but i will get rid of that with a wire wheel. Good to see NO rust AT ALL
Also got the cage in place to see where/what needs changing/modding.
Few test fit pics, fits quite well :)
The primer is just to mark an outline where the cage sits.....
Excuse the phone pics, i dont carry a digicam around with me lol

Heres a problem, the previous owner cut the feet off and shortened the b-pillar legs (to get the cage to clear a gsi sunroof)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v8...P/Photo057.jpg
So im going to have to make a 90deg kind of metal plate, welded to the floor and sill, and then boxed in at the ends.
Will probably just weld the cage feet back on, and weld that bit of the cage directly to the floor spreader plate. (Looks a bit tricky to try and get bolts through there, with it not sitting flush on the floor)
Front legs, again will weld the feet back on, then weld a spreader to the floor and bolt it down.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v8...P/Photo056.jpg
Windscreen bar(had to remove the sun visors)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v8...P/Photo059.jpg
So now just got to get some metal sheet (thinking 2mm?), get it cut to size and weld the spreaders in. And then get the cage in.
And then prep and respray the floor.... :thumb:
Also dug the Comp's out my parents loft that ive had for about a year lol
Lookin at spraying them a similar colour to the car, as it'll look a bit different. Maybe Clio williams wheel colour?
Looking good. cages are a pain to fit as i found out lol
Body coloured wheels would look a bit off imo, gold could work
The car is gold, ish lol
Was thinking maybe gold, with blue Comp stickers and centre caps.....
Already managed to t**t my head on the cage twice when getting out the car, thats without seats fitted lol.
Also trapped my finger inbetween the top door bar and the door seal :( lol
that say 'seat' on the sunroof??
cages rock. good stuff.
Its a Seat sunroof......
Aftermarket non vaux conversion.....
Just noticed you had to lose the rear view mirror as well lol. Gonna get a stick on one for the windscreen?
The cars green! lolQuote:

Nick.
Rich, the mirror should go back on, i removed it just to get the windscreen bar in place.
Thanks Nick, your opinion is always very welcome to me :)
The cage obscures one of the mirror screws IIRC, so you might want to leave it out incase the mirror needs to come off for any reason.
Liking the idea of the Gold wheels, dirty Gold though not a bright shade (williams colour ideal).
Gloss black wheels i say.
Cage looks a nice fit, though tight where the mirror goes.
Scott
3mm for cage spreaders I think? Just weld some feet to the cage and weld it to the spreader plates on the car, you know it makes sense! And box out the B pillar legs.
My SD cage cleared the rear view screws but got in the way of the visors.
The mirror should clear, the angle of the pic makes it look tighter than it actually is.
The visors will just stay removed, hope top tint screen provides enough shading against the sun.
If not you can get a massive sunstrip.
My top tint wasnt really enough on its own, If I didn't have the visors I'd have definately fitted a sunstrip.
Probably get a big Ford "MOTORSPORT" one
Or one that says "Adam" on one side and "Da Slag" on the other.
To be fair i don't need one on mine, mine has no top tint, but i might fit some window tint inside.
I find the seats sit far forward, and the cage blocks the sun, it's when low on horizon and sunset's etc.
As said before.Quote:
