I dont think anything is binding, I would've felt it I'm sure.
Maybe as the 16v disc setup is intended to do all the breaking & the handbrake is a parking break, it cant dissipate the heat like std drums do??
Just driven past & seen the car being worked on for the exhaust, so it should be ready tonight.
