I so have no idea what all this turbo larky all means. Looks nice tho! I thought you weren't worried about bufty?
when it's probaly free who gives a **** lol
Technically i got paid for doing it :dQuote:

Looks top notch!
Yeah, a smaller turbine wheel (compared to the full audi unit/the comp wheel) is effectively geared more like 1st gear than 3rd, so for a set amount of exhaust flow it will spin up quicker, so less lag at x amount of boost. From what I understand the upper limit of the pressure the turbo can deliver on that engine will be slightly lower than a standard vxr turbo, because a smaller wheel is effectively less leverage? But it will spool up quicker for anything below it's max boost.Quote:

Cheers Adam, yer i'm using a standard corsa vxr turbine wheel with a 225bhp audi TT comp wheel.Quote:

As i'm using the standard vxr turbine wheel with an enlarged comp wheel it can't deliver less pressure than the standard vxr turbo.
I figured it would deliver more flow (and earlier too, which is the reason for doing it, to reduce any turbo lag?) but at a lower max pressure? I.E if you closed the wastegate on the vxr turbo and let it just go up to whatever pressure it could manage, it would be higher than your hybrid, as you're turning a larger wheel compressor wheel with the standard size turbine wheel on the hybrid, effectively giving the pressure side of the turbo more leverage to slow the turbine down? Unless i'm overthinking it and it just delivers more air meaning more maximum pressure within the limits of the engine.Quote:

Point, I'm probably thinking about it a bit backwards, as I was thinking of it being a smaller turbine wheel on the audi unit than a larger comp wheel on the VXR unit. Probably why my previous posts only sort of make sense lolQuote:

Ok i understand your train of though here, firstly it will deliver more flow for x amount of boost pressure but i think your over thinking. I would have thought the turbo would simply fail before it reached any sort of maximum possible pressure. As you said more air meaning more maximum pressure within the limits of the engineQuote:

It will just flow more for the same amount of boost
But yeah, probably hardly noticeable but im no turbo expert.....
Cool, I wasn't sure whether turbo's often hit their limits or if you go up a size so it remains at a serviceable speed.Quote:

It may well even spin up quicker due to the design refinements you pointed out.
Feel free to tell me to shut up and get off your thread with the turbo spam btw, started reading up on it a while ago and found it interesting lol
Its a bigger comp wheel Adam not a bigger turbine wheel, the turbine wheel does the 'spinning up'.Quote:

In the car the mid range torque should be noticeably improved as well as a bit more punch on the top end.
I think you're all right in one way or another.
Which is attached to a now heavier/bigger comp wheel???Quote:

All I know is that if Carlsberg made Turbo's they'd probably be the best in the world!

off topic a little can you recon turbo's?
sorry to back track a bit but earlier you said about adapting the standard inlet, please dont do this surely you have heard/noticed that this is the most restrictive part of the engine design, gettin a mantzel/mantzel style and then adapting this to fit your turbo surely that would be a better option?:tard:
if not then im blamin all this turbo stuff for frying my brain lol
crack on with it tho its a great read as my mate is turbo'ing his 1.4 later this year :d
ooooo turbo porn
I'm really enjoying getting involved with the turbo side of life also as there is so much to learn!Quote:

I'm not 100% sure what i'm going to do inlet wise yet as its a matter of cash flow atm.Quote:

got i bit of bad new incase you havent alreayd tryed your pistons in your block there 0.025 to big so it may need a rebore as i found out today :(
I hadn't tried them mate but thats no real bother - was that the smallest size piston they do?
I bet it was a nice suprise to find your bits were too big for the intended hole Browney :D
lol lol lol
** Thought I would just clarify after re-reading my last post! I was implying you have a small todger not that your lovely lady friend has a slack badger **

For your sake i hope she dosnt read this over my shoulder because it will hurt you more than me lol an is better than the 5 knuckle shuffle your so good at by now im sure lolQuote:

epic build!!! just spent the last 4 hous looking at pics alone and reading bits and bob did this ever get finished?
amazing fab work mate top marks for hyour hard work, also what paint did you use to psray car / bottom erms etc etc.?
lol james did an amazing job on this car and sold it to me just a few months ago, av just parked it up in a container till i sell my corsa c z20 and save up about 10k to finish it haha the paint is nato green like the army tanks n i have a number on a spare tin if ye need it :thumb:Quote:
