might just leave it there tbh, looks good - works well, and plenty of cold air
will get the hacksaw out on the grill me thinks :thumb:
been out in garage for an hour, done bolt to stud conversion, with plenty of loctite thread locker! lol , fitted disk spiggot ringsfitted strut brace, finished off oil cooler, fitted filter and checked for leaks - none, and finally done other passenger side brake conversion
here are some piccies
studs and spiggots on/ in
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc0390.jpg
black diamond hoses, and inserts fitted the correct way around (thanks again rick)
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc0391.jpg
passenger side done, with studs on
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc0392.jpg
some funky moving parts shots
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc0393.jpg
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc0394.jpg
brace fitted, looks cool - fouls on oversized washer bottle, so just means me getting a smaller one - which i've been meaning to do for ages
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc0395.jpg
bumper and grill back on, plenty of air getting to oil cooler
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc0397.jpg
problem with grill not fitting, not done anything about it yet
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc0398.jpg
my fave pic for some reason.... grrrrrrrrrrr
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc0396.jpg
Thanks for reading!
nice work fella..
can you not move the bracket on the oil cooler, and bolt to the other side of the slam panel? so effectivly it's inline with the rad?
may have to come you cutting a tiny bit of plastic out of the grill then?
Nice, also didn't realise it was olly...
This is probably better than your white one! Great build, I know i'm gonna have to come back too now, i'm similar to you got a garage on my house, its gotta be hiding a track toy!
Nice :)
top work buddy, looking good
had some spacers made up for my wheels to replace the universal jobbies
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc0403.jpg
they're 7mm instead of 5mm, which gave me more brake clearance (but wasn't necessary)
but after a test drive, the front arches were catching too much and didn't want it raising anymore, so i put my 5mm's back on, to take them in all of 2mm (every little helps tho)
also done some more weight saving, completely removed front lips from the front wings
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc0399.jpg
and finally, until a cheap enough second hand fibreglass one comes up, more weight gone from the right place :)
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc0400.jpg
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc0401.jpg
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc0402.jpg
until next time folks
nice work chap :thumb:
lol extreme weight saving lol
still looks awsome though
Cut out the part which holds the latch and the bonnet pin, that bits will save quite a bit of weight.
beautiful car mate love the mk1s.
Not much of an update, but here it is anyway...
Firstly - big thanks to Dar for sourcing me some braided fuel lines so I could run them inside the car...

Holes in battery tray for feed & return
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc0405.jpg
Up inside the car (getting sprayed inside shortly)

Entering the car behind the drivers seat (see above regarding spraying lol)

Done diddly done

How it will sit (minus firewall) (this was a few weeks ago)
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc0410.jpg
Last weekends work was to source a AX wiper linkage & motor, ended up scrapping the motor and using Nova one for easy of wiring, fits straight on the linkage with no alterations to be made... made up a supporting bracket to the scuttle panel so its well secure and a neat job
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc0411.jpg
Complete firewall gone this time (left the wiper motor part in last time), in preperation for fuelling changes, and a nice set of shiney 90mms
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc0412.jpg
..shiney 90mms?
Great stuff ol.. how its done.
Oli i see the Fuel lines are another of Dar's top ideas, he should tell us to bog off and put TM's on his ideas lol lol
Looks really good mate,im waiting to see if i need the swirl pot/filter upfront.
Scott
nice work fella :thumb:

Absolutely loving this thread :thumb: great car and prigress, thought your last nova was cool to. Can i be cheeky and ask where the lines are from?
Ste
They came from Dar, who I paid to get them for me... don't think he'll want to make a habit of it tho - I had to make lots of promises to get them lol
Cheers Long Live - I will be when some come up, not wanting to pay brand new prices for them really... :)
Oh lordy, not you as well! He'll be walking like a rusty sheriff by the end of the winter lolQuote:

Keith
very nice lookin track toy im lovin these project threads makin me want one
Thanks for the interest/ comments :)
Anyway, finally finished off 'fettling' the grill to fit very very snug around my Mocal oil cooler, as i've decided against chopping the front panel out in favour for an alloy bar, neat job
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc0413.jpg
Pic of the wiper position, would sooner it lower down to be honest, but I'll do it when I have more time
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc0414.jpg
Fuel Swirl pot setup and installed, just need a couple of bits to actually get it running, loom hidden to junction box, and extended to heater blower to allow the rest to be hidden
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc0415.jpg
And just for Keith - flat/ black plug cover... next up for the black paint is the strutbrace!
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc0416.jpg
look's better with that plug cover, hopefully mine should be similar when done
Takes me back to your old white nova Oli - Everything Black !! - Looking good as always
Nice to see you back with another mint Nova - People always come back to building a quick nova whenever they get rid of there old one - its in our blood !!!
Keep up the good work
Dave
Nice. Can you get the wiper to sit lower with that motor setup? you cant with aftermarket mono wipers.
Hmmm, personally i preferred the old cam cover. Looked more interesting imo.
Love this car, great work Olly, its looking like a proper track weapon!
Putting the red plug cover back on now, as some bits I've been buying are red - which I don't want to change the colour of, so I guess that'll be my 'theme' - Black & Red
Tyres have been stripped of ready for my Rainsports which are due to arrive on Wednesday, just gonna spray them black for now (boooo)
Wanted a different colour to be honest, so I could differentiate between them without looking at the tyres, but hey ho!
The other red bits in my engine bay, which I collected today are:

Bring on the noise (again)
Grrr, was thinking how much this car was like mine ! Nice and cheap on a tight budget, now you go and get uber expensive bodies. Wish i could afford them :thumb:
