The cam cover will be going satin black, as will the gearbox.
Dont think i'll fit the eco engine cover.
Not to sure about the blue block BUT looking good Ad, cheap as for the clutch and belt ;)
Blue blocks are cool :)
And thats the only hammerite i had lol
lookin good so far :)
cant wait to see it in its new home
(added you to msn, have some q's about the engine and conversion if you dont mind :thumb: )
looks mint mate, nice one!!
you need an inlet on the engine...
get rid of the crappy vaux one
Aye i know Ste.
Theres a copy type one on ebay for ?200 ish that i may get sometime.
But thats ?200 towards some tb's, Lol.
Sirnixalot-No probs.
Cheers for comments people :)
O, the cam cover is now satin black too,Lol.
make your own lol... cant be that hard?
nova sri inlet modded?
Maybe, but i only have a drill, file, and hacksaw,Lol.
bloody useless lol
If you want to have a crack at one, go right ahead, i'll happily test it :) Lol
pass, if i had time to funk around doing things like that, would of had my engine fitted by now lol
Finally got the gaskets and bits I ordered, so got on with getting the engine re-built up.
Got cambelt kit on and fitted, after a wee problem with the tensioner not holding still

Pretty much ready to fit.
Planning on fitting the weekend after pv.
all looks good ad. bet you cant wait to fit it! will be nice and quick!
but defo get some carbs on it in the future, i heard mine for the first time in a while yesterday and tere awsome as you no!
Cheers Lew.
Yeah, i'll deffo miss the carb noise, hence why i might save them for a rainy day,Lol.
Lookin good ad! i reckon you'll be wel chuffed with it.
On the inlet front, i once had a mantzel powerbox on the 1.4, and tbh the quality imo was shi*e. It fitted poorly, and the casting was crap. I reckon you could easily make one out of say, 4mm steel, and see the same results a a mantzel.
I was thinking of maybe going to a local engineering works with some drawings and seeing if they could make one up.
I'd probably see good power gains with 40s, but im back to the lower mpg etc situation then,Lol.
yeh defo keep yor carbs for a rainy day ; )
that would be nuts to drive i recon!
I've heard of bulkhead fouling issues too with carbs/trumpets on the x14/x16 too.Quote:

I ran an astra x16xel inlet pipe on mine, much smoother/direct than the oddly shaped corsa/tigra item.
My sell the 40s on then, and make plans for a inlet box.
Nice thread Ad, just sat and read it all. If I was to redo mine it'd be very similar to this!
Cheers Paul :)
Later this summer i might see about getting two arch lip repair panels fitted to completely sort the bodywork :)
Superb thread and update mate...car looks stunning...all the money spent in the right places;)...
Cant wait to PV to see this little beast in the flesh:)
chris
Cheers mate.
Just ordered some new number plates(the old ones are fooked, and mouldy(nearly failed mot on them,Lol)
Also got a Flat F13 type Flywheel to replace the hefty pot one that came on the 16v, saves about 4kg in weight.
Ive also made up a wiring loom, using the car side of the corsa ecu plug(so it plugs in), also spliced in the immobiliser pickup. Now just needs to be wired into the car(6wires), and everything should work. Might do the wiring sometime soon, as thats one less job to do when engine goes in, and it'll then just plug in :D
Just got to have the tyres put on the white Cesaro's and respray the bumpers, and it'll be sorted for pv.
Ive just refitted both wipers back on too, in place of the single wiper, got a bit annoying with the wiper half way up the screen. I might refit it if i can find a nice looking single wiper arm.
New plates have arrived, look much better than the old original ones.
Front bumpers been resprayed(haven't really got the weather to do the rear one :( ) So that'll stay as it is.
Got to get the mobile tyre fitter out here in a bit to get the tyres swapped onto the new rims.
Also, engine is completely built up, sorted the alternator situation, so it now runs a single V setup :)
Just need a gsi exhaust system now to make the downpipe hopefully bolt up when the engine goes in :)
nice work mate, cant wait to see it at PV
and as for the 40s, sell them me ;)
40s will be for sale after pv ;)
Might ebay them tho and hope for stupid money lmao
Just list them with a bonkers power claim... They'll go for a song!
so if i get you drunk at PV ill get them cheap ;) lol
LMAO
Im only going be there on the sunday :(
Just rung the tyre fitter, and he's fully booked till Tuesday.
So that leaves a few days before pv to make sure the rims hold air etc,Lol.
What tyres you getting?
None, im removing the ones off my old rims lol
Pff, get some nice new ones.
Fcuk that.
Re-use the old, pikey style lol
just read the whole thread and your car looks mint, if the tyre fitter scratches ur rims get him to repair or replace them
Ive used him before, hes a good guy.
Hoping he'll take extra care,Lol.
Tyres are now fitted, and wheels are on. :)
He did quite a good job, no scratches on them, just a few black marks on the edge where the tyre slid over.
