Just did a 'shop with the black down the side... didn't look too good lol
Tempted to stick some smoked/black rear lens clusters on and paint the rear panel black to match...
still a cool idea :thumb: How about an eagle on the bonnet? lolQuote:

Also started disassembling the front end in preparation of welding and fitting the engine mounts etc. Undersealed the O/S front arch too. Was hoping to have my window frames fitted by now, but having troubles with a certain company via ebay
I didn't even know he had a Wip thread...
Sorry aint read the whole post but is this going to PV?
Possibly lolQuote:

Now you know why I'm Commander Slow (Steven on CCUK is Captain Slow lol)
I'd like to really take it to bits and go over the whole thing taking out rust and what not, especially seeing some of the impressive work other people are putting into their projects, but the be-a*sed factor is lacking. Also, as the car is at Alex's, I only get 3-4 hours max each weekend to work on it. Next weekend is the Cheltenham meet, after that the Celica is on a RR, so I reckon it might be ready for the engine somewhere round the end of May lol
i wrote that back in Feb '07. whats the news?Quote:

I have almost everything I need, aside from exhaust and fuel lines... Plans are afoot to fit the engine at the end of June.
At the moment tho I'm facing a severe funding crisis, so please buy my stuff in the for sale forum (link in sig) and all my other junk on ebay so I can afford to finish the nova :D
Just pimp your ass out.
Yikes! The Nova has been touched!
Had a visit from Bump on Saturday to do a spot of welding on the saloon. After muchos coffee, and scratching of heads on how some of the plates in the plating kit fitted, we ended up with a stitch welded and plated engine bay.
Few action pics:

Not bad considering the carpet only caught fire once...
Again, big thanks for Bump for putting up with my mincing for the day whilst he did some proper work!
How its looking at the mo, sans front wings and struts:

Next job is to finish painting the bay, then fit the new front struts and springs. I'll probably leave the wings off until the engine is in.
You leaving the bay black ??
fecking top job old chap!! And bump, well done dude, looks some good welding that mate!
Cant beleive theres been some proper work done tho!! lol lol
looks good mate!!
Yeah. It had a few scrapes in it anyway, and I thought instead of faffing around trying to patch them up with the blue I might as well just whack a layer or two of hammerite over the whole bay lolQuote:

Nice work, by bump lol
Fair doos, looks balls imo, surely wouldn't of been to difficult respraying it blue tho ?Quote:

Its only half painted at the mo, hence why it looks a bit crap. The car will be resprayed eventually anyway, and tbh its far from being a show car so I don't really care what it looks like... just that its painted and protected from rusting away.
Plus I don't have the time, equipment, skill or be-ar$ed factor to repaint it blue lol
Rattle can it! lol
It would look cooler in black/grey if sprayed on.
TBH, its not exactly going to be a show car, so it doesnt really matter does it? Altho, saying that, id anything, id go matt black definetlyQuote:

:D
The brushed on stuff has actually come out pretty darned smooth - looks sprayed on aside from some of the rough edges and bits I couldn't quite get to with the brush lol
Even if it aint a show car, i'd want it looking "nice" Lol
I guess hammerite does its job tho lol
Why stich welded and not seam though??
seam is too strong. Stitch keeps some crumple zone in there, does the same strength job, weighs less, costs less, wont propogate cracks either.
Nice one RJ (& Bump)
Shame I didn't get a photo of Jack! I got him to do some work lol
Jack, got the underseal out of your hair yet lol
LOL. Thats not funny for Jack.Quote:

Like Jack's already said, it's only going to be a run around car, and tbh the black won't look to be when it's all done. It only looks tacky now because only parts of it have been painted.
And bump wins a prize for drinking the most amount of coffee I have ever seen! lol
I was lagging behind in the coffee stakes that day. Should have had another couple of jugs :(
Yes Jack did indeed do some work.
Lee, just force tools at Jack with vague gesturing and he'll pick it up lol
The only clue ill give is the resulting post tomorrow evening will probably put quite a few of you into shock. lol
Wild stab, fitting engine in Jacks saloon? :p
Bingo. This time, we have ALL the parts lol
i thought you might finally be installing a small block !
