Looking good oli its come along way since i last looked.. wings painted yet?
what are you doing about the rears oli ?? wont the fronts look out of place with standard rears ??
Rears are staying standard, on the basis that they don't need to be wide - they don't do the steering, they do naff all braking and they don't put any power down lol
The arches aren't painted and prob won't be for a while  I have some bodywork repairs that need doing on my BMW after a little accident at the 'ring on Sunday :(
lol what you done now?Quote:

I haven't seen the car for ages! I'm presuming its still in the workshop where I left it, so to celebrate that fact I bought a set of Wilwood dynalites and 280mm discs from the Autosport show today :D :D :D I'm back there tomorrow so i'll probably get some ferrodo ds2500 to suit them too  I'll post pics of it all when it arrives mid next week ;)
Nice one Mr, was wondering where the progress had gone!
They were unsure of the part no. for the pads on the DT stand so I'll order them next week unless someone knows somewhere cheaper to get 'em? (Ferrodo DS3000 for wilwood forged dynalites)
I bought a little trick bit of weight saving today, been meaning to get one for ages, its bloody small (condom for scale!). Should save about half a kilo :D

new bits sound exciting Oli. What brakes are you replacing? And whats the weight saving on them?
I was running Astra 16v (256mm) brakes before, replacing with wilwood dynalite (4 pot) calipers and 280mm discs. The calipers are about 4kg lighter (each) but the discs will be heavier, so probably a 5kg saving over all :)Quote:

Autosport good?
Yeah like you say unsprung weight makes a huge difference, I'm currently looking for some lightweight wheels (Rota's, Superleggeras etc) cos I reckon I could save approx 3kgs per wheel
Autosport was ok, wouldn't have wanted to pay to get in. Once you've been for a few years its much of a muchness tbh.
Yeah I went 4 or 5 years ago & havent felt the urge to go since.
Are compomotive lightweight or just bloody hard?
Compomotive are strong rally wheels predominantly, not really lightweight. Even their 'ultralight' CXR wheel isn't actually that light.
that mirror is stupidly small lol
love this thread, does the corsa pedal box make much of a difference as ive been talking to a guy today and we're thinking of doing it ??
very nice mate, hadn't noticed this project before!
its an ultra lightwaight! u'd better tie some bricks to it when you're parked so it don't blow away lol
rotas are the way to go, had some for track build (on mig), but sold them on as they were 16's and decided on the 15's route for cheaper tyre options
I've yet to get the corsa pedal box working properly. I removed the servo at the same time and as a result of the lost assistance I can't generate enough system pressure to slow the car with the Astra 16v calipers and 256mm discs. To remedy this I've ordered the Wilwood dynalites with 1.75" pistons to give me greater force at the pads through hydraulic multiplication :thumb:Quote:

Unfortunately the calipers they are to fit won't be with me for weeks yet, cos Rally Design are out of stock and they're awaiting a delivery from the good ol US of A
how much do you guesstimate the final ready-to-run weight will be oli ??
I hope you dint drive the nova to day.. i suspect you would of been found blown tot he other side of the contry lmao i saw 4 brand new Yam R1s blown over outside the bike shop and a 3-4foot wide tree rip out of the ground lollol
At last weigh in it was 660kgs.
So at rough guesstimates;
-5kgs for brakes
-7kgs for red top battery
-8kgs for tailgate
-5kgs for removed metal
-12kgs for wheels (if I can afford em!)
-0.5kgs for the mirror
So thats 37.5kgs lighter, So roughly 622.5kgs ;)
That is an awesome figure. :thumb: You should be proud.Quote:

Nice mirror... is that a proper carbon base plate too?
Course it is! I wouldn't put fake ****e on my baby! It was left over from a set of doorcards I had, I sold the door and qtr panels and have been using the boot panel piece to make random bits and bobs :thumb:
looking good mate, and a bloody good weight!!
 dont think i'll be try the pedal box idea now lolQuote:

I'll pull my finger out and get the headlight and indicators mounted properly ASAP and post pics up, will be able to see what they look like properly then, rather than the bodged mess at the moment lol
where did u get them wings from
are they a decent fit?
Its a cruel world we live in
My brakes arrived today and I was all :D :D :D
then I measured the pistons in the calipers and they've sent the wrong ones
They aren't amazing but they do the job. Are made for rallycross not show cars tho ;)Quote:
