lotus carlton powered nova, rumour? true?

PMSL there is no LC powered nova round here an there never was. If someone one ever did do such a thing the carlton boys would probably find an kill you for doing such a thing.

Just because someone told you there was one doesnt mean there is, I mean I had someone claim to be able to 200mph in 3rd gear in a standard 2lt nova and that by putting a 150bhp engine into a lighter car the engine then produced 6 million bhp. Its doesnt work like that but you try telling a spaz that.

I also had some little chavs claim that his brothers 2.5 V6 vectra would smoke my corsa on top speed, yet again a 200mph car out of the factory for vauxhall. It wasnt even the 3lt one lmfao, tool.

Surely putting a LC engine in a Nova would seriously devalue the LC engine lol

I love this ' if somebody found a crash damaged LC' idea.

Let me put it to you that if a lotus carlton crashed, it would not exactly be a rear ender now would it??????? The front would be totalled & then the engine would be useless cos it would cost ?5000 to get bits to put it right.

Final nail in this myth.. The 3.6 6pot engine was loosely based on the 6 pot gm engine which in turn was basically 1 1/2 gm big block 4 cylinder engines. We have all seen pictures of rwd rally novas/corsas with redtops in & the back spark plug is under the dash, so if you fitted a 6pot 24v twin turbo, the rear turbo would be somewhere near your groin.

Sorry to change subject. But has anyone heard of other cars that have had a LC conversion? not just nova's??

The LC block is the same as a carlton gsi one, the bore+pistons are the same diameter, its the stroke which is longer to produce the extra 600cc :)

As Dar said, where did the bits go, tbh I've never heard of a C36GET in anything other than a Carlton, and theyre just not the same in a GSi one etc

ps. the lotus carlton was built in a fairly unique way. they shipped fully built carlton gsi's to norfolk, stripped them out & stuck all the lotussy bits in. the leftovers were sent back to the carlton factory & stuck on new ones.

So it doesn't need a rocket scientist to work out that if you crash a lc, you go & get a carlton (available in most autotraders from a fat bloke called Dave) & rebuild it

I think that fitting a new crank, rods, pistons, flywheel, head & turbos could qualify as loosely based.

the original idea was for a proper grand touring car championship, & the car had to be production based, thus the stock block. Unfortunately, the idea was shelved but the lc was made
