I just got a set of black daimond preditor pads to go with the omp disc's . There recommended by max power so they must be good !!!
Got the loom as striped out and the cage is properly mounted now. Its all ready for stich welding inside now. Should not take long to sort out the inside than we can get a bit of paint action.
i had some pics to put up but they got deleted so i need to do them again.
Here is a couple of pics of my front calipers and discs. The pads im using are black daimond preditor pads. the calipers were completely striped back and cleaned up to bear metal. Thought red would be a nice colour to go for, even tho the cav rims are not really going to let you see much of them !

Got a few more updates todo but no time at the mo.
looking good mate, nice wip
Scene as I want the car to be as light as possible I spent most of Saturday removing unwanted items from the nova. I started with sound deadening and got a little more involved after a while.

The original idea was to make a flat surface to mount the internal fuel tank. I was going to use some steel but decided to use something a little lighter.

Yes, its part of a land rover alloy roof. The roof has got some strengthening braces though it so it’s light and strong enough to support the 5-gallon tank.
I also decided to remove all the brackets I didn’t need. Which includes: all rear seat mounts (two backrest, two backrest pivot points and 3 bench hinging points, every little counts! Plus I also removed and the old fuel tank brackets.

Looks odd at the mo but you get the idea.

rah! top thread, just found this, read it from beginning, look a rather cool build mate!

On Saturday I also got chance to have a better look at the cage mounting points. I found out the cage didn’t fit cause the door bar bracket on one side was an inch to high! How it ever fitted in any nova I don’t know.
Anyway, this is a 3mm plate I made up to support the middle section of the 6-point cage.

Notice that only tacking has been done! When fully welded the original floor will be removed (to allow the nuts to be put on) from under the car and it will be drilled and plug welded to the inner sill for more strength.
At the front and rear mount I will be making a 10cm by 14cm spreader plate, which will be, seam welded to the body. I will also fix a captive nut to the front plate, as the nut would have to be going through a box section of the body.

The plates are yet to be cut as it takes so long to cut 3mm steel!
Thought I would get a few pics with the cage in situ.

How would you use an olive on a braided brake line !?!
