No you dont, you turn them on and they blow cold and gradually warm up and the screen warms up gradually too, hence no crackage, if you left your screen frozen over and let the heaters get to full temp then bang em on full you might risk cracking the screen like in the advert but i dont know anyone that does that:p
Would be nice to go australia over the winter, have Christmas dinner cooked on a bbq next to the sea :) sounds my kind of christmas. Bbq turky and pigs in blankets, yum yum.
