Engine bay is looking very smart :)
Cracking Stuff Iain, bet your really looking forward to driving the beast now!
looks great mate
Rubbish update but I have lowered the steering column as the fastest wiper setting hit the dashboard and I couldn't see the warning lights on the dash!
Thanks to my fantastic bracket design I could whip this out:

Bracket, note 2 holes at the top:

Redrilled and used 2 lower down holes in the shell bracketry:

Bish bash bosh, column lower:

Also stripped down the front-end and replaced the core plug I 'fixed' as it was leaking AGAIN grr
dash looks better - should be a cool 'sportier' driving position too lol
fingers crossed with core plug
Good work on the dash and movable column.
how much did you have machined off the top mounts mate ?Quote:

I had these done for Iain, it was 3mm, so 6mm in total radius.
Glad you replied Ian as I can't remember. lol You can see from the pics they have allowed slightly more adjustment as they would have fouled in their current position
I noticed my bottom pulley was wobbling around quite a lot and research showed me this is because the rubber can perish and move slightly. Got myself a new bottom pulley from TXAutosport.
New one on left @ 566g, old one on right @ 1.23kg so not a bad weight saving either.

And fitted. It's very tight on the cambelt pulley so I have no idea how it'll ever come off if I need to remove it!

Also fitted my passenger seat and harness, couldn't get it as far back as I'd have liked as the rollcage bar is in the way. Also I think the seat rails are wonky as the drivers side touches the window and the passenger side is miles away lol
Whoops on the seat rails! lol
Often thought about investing in one off them alloy bottom pulleys, would you say there any good? strong enough your think?? Good build etc?
Scott
I wouldn't have gone for the pulley if mine wasn't wobbling and the rubber wasn't looking a bit worse for wear.
Seems well enough made, will do the job no problems, although I've read about the rubber in the standard pulley acting as a dampener/balancer for the crankshaft somehow so I'm still a little skeptical it's good to fit one.
Good weight saving though :)
Now insured and MOT'd  Was spot on on the way to the MOT, only problem was a HT lead popped off causing it to run on 3.
Thanks to Prey off here for his role as 'support crew' following me with loads of tools and a towrope lol
Good feeling when they pass
Good work Iain.
Time to go put some miles on it then, finally mate well done:thumb:
Yep tax on Monday and I'll try and get the engine run in in the next few weeks
Lucky I had Alan (Prey) there to utiluse cable ties in order to professionaly fix my HT lead for me lol

Noticed some paint missing from the belt cover though:

Oops it's still hitting the bonnet:
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/339.JPG
Opened the gap up a bit more and it clears fine again:

Also fitted up my extinguisher:

Shut up Spudly I was too busy staring at the oil pressure/battery gauges and worrying to think about that lol
Nice one Alan, first pic of it off the driveway!
A lot of work has taken you. The truth, it is that you have still had it very well. I have seen modifications that I have liked very much, I you will copy them, jeje
Regards.
Awesome Job Iain, good to see its finally on the road :thumb:
Nice one !!!

Good work mate well done! Its a great feeling.
amazing build just sat here and read through it !!
Tax'ed today? One death drive later?
Yep £205 lighter and taxed for a year. Might go out later in it dunno yet
Just go out for little drives here there and everywhere, but stay local so when bits you forgot to tighten decide to part company with the car then you dant have far to walk/get recovered lol
That's not nice ,but funny lol lol lol lolQuote:
