It's the youth of today there all brain dead sheep. makes you worry for the future!!
not really my WPYOT, but this actually happened to a good friend of mine........
his son came to visit him, as he had something he wanted to tell him......
it basically went like this: 'dad, i'm going to become a woman & would like to be called 'abby' from now on'
oh, and the son is not into blokes, he/she is into girls, so his son is actually going to be a lesbian too
my friend is wandering about in a daze..... i'm a man of many words, but i have none that could possibly help on this occasion
Mowgli, give him a manhug and go out for a few beers with him... It's probably a parents nightmare bringing up a child in a "typical" certain way to find out internally and mentally that said child is the opposite sex, still there child though and no matter what they've to stand by the situation... Must be bloody hard though for him/her to open up to their dad of all people I suppose.
Id say few beers and let him know he's done a great job raising his child if they know they can come to him with something like that he's done his job well
its a tough one... he is actually paid to do counselling work, and has encountered a great many things... I think the drink thing might work...i'll give it a try
Tough one, this. I have a lady friend with a son who has become a daughter several years ago... and eh/she's into females as well. Does that classify her as a lesbian? God knows. All I know she (the mother) is struggling to accept her son's new found life as a young lady. Not only that, the girl has moved to Thailand because she was getting an awful lot of stick over here. Apparently that sort of thing is widely accepted in Thailand.
As for going for a beer with your mate, yes it's the best thing I can think of. Just be there to listen. Don't try to be a counsellor yourself, just be yourself and listen.
